Sarah Palin was involved in a brief argument over the weekend with an Alaska teacher over her decision to leave her post as governor of Alaska halfway through her term.
The dustup occurred in Homer, Ala., where Palin appeared over the weekend to film part of her coming television series on TLC.
Palin was greeted in the town by Kathleen Gustafson, a self-identified teacher, who was holding a sign that read: Worst Governor Ever.
After seeing the sign, Palin walked over to speak to Gustafson. The video is spreading quickly Monday on several liberal blogs.
You swore on your precious Bible that you would uphold the interests of this state, and then when cash was waved in front of your face, you quit, Gustafson told Palin after the former governor walked over to ask, Whats up?
Oh, you wanted me to be your governor, Palin responded, sarcastically retorting, Im honored! Thank you!
Gustafson then accused Palin of being more interested in becoming a celebrity than being involved in the political process.
In response, Palin tried to explain that now that she is no longer governor, she is free to be out there fighting for Americans to be able to have a Constitution protected so that we can have free speech.
In what way are you fighting for that? Gustafson fired back. In what way?
Oh my goodness! said an exasperated Palin, stating that she has been working to elect candidates who understand the Constitution [and will] protect our military interests so that we can keep on fighting for our Constitution that will protect some of the freedoms that evidently are important to you, too.
Palins daughter Bristol, standing next to the former governor, then tried to explain that her mother is now representing the United States rather than just the state of Alaska.
Yes, I know, you belong to America now, Gustafson said, redirecting the conversation back to the ex-governor.
After watching her daughter jump in, Palin seemed to try to cool tensions.
What do you do here? Palin asked.
Im a teacher, Gustafson responded, to which Palin appears to roll her eyes.
But when Gustafson later explains that she, like Palin, is married to a commercial fisherman, the former governor tried to connect.
We probably have a lot in common, she said, then turning to the camera to wave and ask if she was on video.
Im honored to meet you, I really am, Palin then said, moving to cut off the conversation. We both agree on the freedom of speech and certainly the protection of that.
*Teachers union are so anti-America its pathetic.*
The NEA needs to be abolished!
People should take their kids out and homeschool or send their kids to a private school that doesn’t teach foolishness
“I?ve never known a lesbian to refer to her partner as her ‘husband’ but I guess it?s possible.”
Just FYI, I have. It’s not common, but it’s not unheard of.
bump for later
Palin did great.
The teacher is a fool.
Politico, as always, gins up the article.
It was one in a string of disappointments. I was first disappointed when she made the unwise decision to accept the VP position of a moderate like McCain.
While Biden calls a small business owner a smartass for asking for a tax cut and it only gets a Youtube play.
There is some truth to what the heckler was saying. Palin did quit on her state and she is throwing herself in front of every camera she can find and trying to make as much as she can while she is still in the limelight. Hence her going camping with trashy reality stars. I’ve lost a lot of respect for her. She is much more of a speechmaker/publicity hound than she is a visionary. In ten years she’ll be an afterthought.
Interesting. I’ve heard gay boys use the “husband” term but not lesbians. Maybe it’s a regional thing. LOL
Yeah but its pretty clear that she is the husband in the relationship.
I wonder if she serves cookies and milk with that!
Do you remember the 2000 Democrat convention? Government teachers were the single largest occupation represented there. Do you remember the brightly colored pro-abortion buttons on the hats and lapels, and the wild cheering as Clinton the philanderer marched through the bowels of the convention center?
These are the people who support shoving scissors into the heads of infants (partly born, seconds from their first breath), scrambling their brains, and sucking the gelatinous mess into surgical suction jars.
These are the people teaching our nation's youth.
Again...I wonder if they serve cookies and milk with that?
Ahhh...she isn’t a ‘teacher’ in the NEA sense of the term...she is a teacher in the NARAL jargon.
Who would have seen that coming? Rabid pro-abort ‘educator’ going after uber maternal Palin.
You’re probably correct, even if she is married to a “man.”
Kinda like that Reagan fellow...the one who was an actor and President of the Screen Actors Guild; and got himself on the TV with the 20 Mule Team Borax show...all that facetime...and he didn’t have any vision either I guess.
KATHLEEN GUSTAFSON, President, Board of Directors, Kachemak Bay Family Planning Clinic (KBFPC), said that she personally opposes parental consent laws, and believes that every pregnant Alaskan has the right to privacy afforded to all Alaskans via the Alaska State Constitution. She pointed out that a pregnant minor may need protection from the very people [the sponsor] seeks to empower with legislation such as HB 35. Surmising that the sponsor is of the belief that generally parents behave well, she said she doesn't believe that pregnant minors need to be protected against generalizations, but instead need to be protected against specific examples of when the parents aren't behaving well. To say that generally parents behave well, she opined, is to simply be looking the other way.
LOL Some of the biggest idiots I’ve ever met were teachers. It’s really a shame because years ago it wasn’t that way.
“You SWORE on your precious bible...”
Sarah has a potty mouth too!
