The U.S. plans to sell advanced F-15 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia in a $30 billion, 10-year arms package.

The 84 Boeing Co. (BA) F-15s could help the Saudis deal with skirmishes with Yemeni rebels on the country's southern border, The Wall Street Journal said. The planes will have onboard targeting systems similar to those offered to other foreign governments, but will not be as sophisticated as the F-15s flown by the U.S. military.

As I said, the U.S. and the west have no interest in “picking winners” between the Wahabi-loving Saudis and the Iranian theocrats - mere cousins in the family of radical Islamic fundamentalists. Were one or the other to obtain Islamic dominance, the difference would mean nothing, in the long run, to the west and change nothing, to the better, in terms of the political goals of Islamic fundamentalists.

True, which is what keeps addicts in their addiction, and in the case of the U.S. it’s been addicted to Middle East myths fed to it by Middle East “allies” constructed for their benefit, not ours.

I think the Saudi’s and Iranian’s should have to settle their differences directly. No need for US troops to be fodder for their ideological issues.
