But the fellow you mentioned by name voted for the SC secession, a secession motivated by a concern for the protection and maintenance of slavery.

You say you can identify specific ancestors who signed the South Carolina Secession Declaration in 1860 but aren't sure whether they were slave owners or not?

I never said I wasn't sure who owned who, I just didn't care to give you the information either way. You seem just a little over eager for a confirmation, that makes me ask why.

I'm feeling generous today, so just to put your little mind at ease as to the motives of my ancestors toward their slaves, I will share a bit.

Before O was on the political landscape some "representatives" began combing the Georgetown District area for information on the Robinson family, you know Michelle's slave ancestor's owners. Around the same time my family was approached for a book by a black lady and my cousin agreed to help. I was later informed nothing was found on my family of interest to whoever, and the author sent a copy to my cousin, who in turn sent a copy on to me. Apparently much wasn't found on the Robinsons either, because those records were sealed. Whether the two incidents were related, I don't know for sure, just some "red flags".

So pardon me if I question your eagerness to know the names of any potential family Simon Legrees.

My grandmother came from just south of the Waxhaw area. The slaves belonging to her mother's parents hid the family's silver from Sherman's men.

My family lived near the area also and had a similar experience.

Silver was also dumped in the nearby Pee Dee River in an effort to hide it from the incoming plaque of locust. They still do what they call "magnet fishing" there, using I guess a heavy net with a magnet attached to bring up silver that might still be submerged.

I had ancestors on the American side in the battles of Guilford Courthouse and King's Mountain and a cousin on the American side at Cowpens. Their descendants fought for the South in the War Between The States.

I did as well, from both sides of my family. My husband too. That is why "the SC elites" pushing big government on the common southerner, who should have revolted, is just too funny.

BTW the TVA didn't seem to help/save Tennessee from devastation incurred in the last flood this year, a story spiked by the media.....

The worst flooding, the Nashville flooding, wasn't in the Tennessee Valley. Nashville is in a basin drained by the Cumberland River. I think TVA has a coal plant close to Nashville, but they don't handle flood control in that part of the state.

To me, the most noxious foreign invasion in the South occurred when unwanted Confederate armies invaded East Tennessee in 1861. The blood boils when reading about an attack by a passing Mississippi regiment on Cleveland Tennessee because they objected to the Stars and Stripes flying over the courthouse. On the other hand, the a patriot's heart is cheering when researching the failure of an attempted intimidation of peaceful citizens at Strawberry Plains where a reb regiment's aggression proved no match for fighting Unionist citizens. (tyrants hate the 2nd Amendment!)

Q: Were the captains of your northern slave ships unwilling to earn their own living by their own sweat because they hired some sailors (voluntary worker) and shanghied others (involuntary worker)?

Northern slave captains were as low as they come, but Lincoln and the Union were not fighting so Yankee slave traders would have a permanent business.

Nothing like that happened in the Revolutionary War. Most likely it was inspired by an incident in France during WW2.

I know what the term means and who gave it the meaning and why. Might want to check the area census and see all the slave owners calling themselves farmers before and after the WBTWS. It sure was ok with the US Census.
