It began with one Sheriff speaking with other Sheriffs about their oaths to uphold the constitution. A new movement is growing in this country in support of limited government, constitutional principles, states rights and a stronger role for sheriffs to play against federal abuse of power. In this 3-part video interview with Tony DeMeo, Sheriff of Nye County, Nevada, he explains that he is a Constitutional Sheriff and that authority for public office holders is derived from the people:
SNIP
In his own words Sheriff Tony DeMeo describes an incident where federal agents of the BLM threaten him with arrest while the Sheriff issues his own threats of an armed response if illegal seizures of private property in his county continue. Imagine if BLM authorities went ahead with their normal operations of seizing cattle found on public property in direct opposition to Sheriff Tony DeMeo warnings? We would witness a standoff with dire consequences.

“We would witness a standoff with dire consequences.”
No, good consequences, dead federal batards!!!
There are a lot of armed Citizens out in that neck of the desert and I could very easily see them backing up their Sheriff, just sayin...
Yes, he has. I've witnessed the social unrest of the 60s, the trauma of the Watergate Era, the endless scandals of the Clinton administration. All of it combined is a firecracker compared to the stick of dynamite the Democrats seemed hell bent to ignite.
Rather than chest-thumping about civil war, this is what we should be encouraging--massive and widespread nonviolent noncompliance among state and local authorities, resisting federal intrusion into state and private domains.
If thirty states join Arizona, for example, in enforcing the law on illegals, what can the feds do? Arrest them all? Not enough G-men to do it, much less the will to commit political suicide.
Call it Tenth Amendment time. Second Amendment time will come when the civil unrest boils over and the thugs take to the streets.
WE outnumber THEM and they know it.
Nye County has been through this before. They don’t like the feds.

Public forests are primary targets in a growing push for “home rule” in the West
A county commissioner in remote Nye County, Nevada, climbs aboard a D-7 bulldozer and reopens 400 feet of closed road within Toiyabe National Forest, as a Fourth of July crowd watches with admiration. In the process, he nearly mows down two Forest Service special agents - sent to prevent the illegal action - standing in front of the ‘dozer.
Unfortunately many of those who claim they are have to take their kids to a soccer tournament tomorrow so they won't have time to get involved until next weekend........
I agree with you. The next presidential election will not be the smooth transition of power that we are used to in this country.
Whos planning on being civil?
Not me - Our President has laughed at us, called us names, ignored our needs and wishes. His party claims he hasn’t done enough!! I won’t be civil, I don’t need much more of an excuse to be down-right rude and aggressive.
What President has ever divided us in such a way? When did we last hear all this talk of civil war and revolution? NASA needs to reach out to Muslims??? We can’t go out for ice cream without having to show our papers? What the heck is next with this dividing, inciting fool? It won’t be civil - not by a long shot.
That would be a brilliant strategy. As of yet, there doesn't seem to be a single governor prepared to sign on to such an approach. Leadership at the top has not yet caught up with the outrage being voiced by the rank and file. When and if that disconnect is ever bridged, the game will rapidly and fundamentally change.
I’m in NM ... what’s going on in Catron county?
Yup. I saw all that too and there was never the resentment and muttering that there is now. Open defiance is coming. That’s what this article is all about.
In the ‘90s Catron county declared itself sovereign and kicked all the Federal agents out. I don’t know how it stands today.
13-3875. Cross-certification of federal peace officers; policy; powers; qualifications; liability; records

And the local sheriff in Waco was on good terms with Koresh and quite possibly could have resolved the situation before the BATF went in with guns a blazin’.
I do believe an armed “confrontation” is possible between the feds and state law enforcement, but I think the feds will back down before anyone starts shooting.
The states are losing their patience with the feds.
I've said before...I want Perry to dispatch the DPS Texas Rangers to escort federal EPA officials to the airport...
If you will recall what was being openly posted during that period when Algore was trying to steal the 2000 election you know how close we came to a civil war then.
I have contacted my lawyer and he says we can win this and make a bundle on the civil case. ;>)
Yeah I remember a bunch of FReepers talking big during the hanging chad phase.
I remember FReepers going berserk over Waco.
I remember FReepers going crazy over Ruby Ridge.
I remember FReepers being CERTAIN that the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building was the battle enjoined.
Never once did this country come close to “civil war”. You can only say we came close if you’re easily impressed by loudmouths with anonymity publicly vouching of their courage.
Agreed.
This administration has very nearly absolved Clinton through it's near manic assault on the social contract and legitimacy of government.
