GOP rep: Obama's 'in deep doo-doo' By Bridget Johnson - 08/07/10 01:08 PM ET
Rep. Dan Burton (R-Ind.) said Friday that "a lot of people want to jump off" and follow Christina Romer out of the Obama administration.
"When you see a ship starting to sink, a lot of people want to jump off," the congressman said on Fox Business Network. "And she is one."
Romer, chairwoman of the president's council of economic advisers, announced Thursday that she was leaving Washington and returning to an economics teaching job at the University of California at Berkeley.
"This president is in deep doo-doo and I think a lot of people are saying, 'Hey, we've got to get out of here before we all look bad,'" Burton said.
The Indiana Republican added that he believes the country is headed for a double-dip recession.
"I think the unemployment rate will once again go above 10 percent," Burton said. "I wish it weren't so. If we had somebody like Ronald Reagan in the White House who knew what to do to get the economy moving maybe it wouldn't be that bad."
Yeah, I've had similar feelings about the current state of things. An awful lot of "chicken-counting" going on for my taste. The national GOP has disappointed for a few years now. The grass-roots efforts are really on their own. I hope we pull it off.
Actually, she didn't have Obammy's ear. She couldn't get past Rahmbo, et al, to present her ideas. That's why she left. OTOH she's going back to Berkley so her ideas were probably crap anyway.
She'll Ft. Marcy Park him and then publish his long form birth certificate that her people found and have been sitting on since the primaries.
“Romer did such a fantastic job with the economy, I mean, no wonder she is resigning. (sarcasm)
Inept, Incompetent.
Epic Fail.”
I really don’t know much about Romer but I think she’s resigning just like the guy (Christian Adams I believe is his name)from the DOJ because they know what kind of abuses this administration is taking against the American people and they don’t want to get tagged in the upcoming investigations.
Now the question becomes “What’s he going to do about it?”
Bear in mind what other politicians do when they’re backed into a corner.
I am a huge fan of Cavuto... I remember watching him on the Nightly Business Report as a kid... this was before my parents even had cable and the NBR of PBS was the only game in town for market close information.
If you don’t get Fox Business...
DEMAND IT!
We have no leadership
Correction Mr. Burton: AMERICA is in deep doo-doo.
This is not political. This is personal. Republicans need to quit worrying about politics and start worrying about our freedom.
Epic Fail.
