Lorene Yarnell, a dancer who became half of the Shields and Yarnell comedy mime team that came to fame in the 1970s has died. She was 66.

Yarnell died of a brain aneurysm July 29 while watching television with her husband, Bjorn Jansson, at their home in Sandefjord, Norway, said Robert Shields, her former husband and show business partner.

Normally I wouldn't mind the loss of a mime, but she seemed rather nice.

She was a lovely girl, and their robot act was pretty incredible. He was better at it than her, but it was a great act.

It’s strange how someone you only knew in passing, could make you feel so sad when they pass away.

I remember them clearly. I enjoyed their appearances on the tube.

Life is fleeting...

Distraught over this tragic news, the mimes are rioting in France.

Yarnell, who turned up in Mel Brooks' 1987 comedy "Spaceballs" — she was the robot Dot Matrix, whose voice was supplied by Joan Rivers

Wow - I dod not know that. I really thought Joan Rivers was in that costume ;)

Brings back the hell of 70’s TV: too many bad variety shows. S&Y do one classic skit for Carol Burnett and the network decides they can carry a show of their own.

Though the S&Y Hour was just a tad better than the offense to humanity that was Pink Lady & Jeff.

Shields is a genius. Yarnell was gorgeous and beautifully alive. Their meeting in Union Square was legend, when she swept him off his feet.

There is a wonderful montage of photos on this page.

Speaking of Mel Brooks, I love how he had Marcel Marceau as the only person who spoke in "Silent Movie."
