Well, we do need a "secular argument", though admittedly, not a "stinkin'" one. Just one that you can defend with evidence and with reasonable inferences without necessarily adverting to supernaturally revealed truth.

Why? Because it's not just to require our fellow citizens to go along with something they can't access with their minds.

The same God who wrote the book of Scripture wrote the book of Nature. And that God is just.

Some formal provision for procreation is common to all the world’s cultures, whether it’s an ornate religious wedding ceremony or a tribe with too few women kidnapping some from a rival tribe. It’s a survival requirement.

Conservatives have an instinctive respect for common sense, common law, and tradition. Conservative philosopher Edmund Burke wrote that when a “radical” devises an abstract social theory that contradicts traditional beliefs and practice, he’s almost always wrong. Pardon the pun, but “Gay marriage” is the most obvious example of a stupid, destructive idea that can be conceived.

Marry you kids for tax and benefit purposes.

Sexless marriages are not illegal.

Losing the inheritance taxes will really compel the Dhiminicrats to a very narrowly defined definition of marriage.

Neil Bortz hammered this today, making the argument that it doesn’t affect the REST OF US, so why bother them? But it’s when your daughter gets married, and the Father of the Bride is suppose to walk the gal up to the front and say HER MOTHER AND I? Which side does the brides mother, father, and who are the bridesmaids, and the Groomsmen...it is so yucky why can’t they be satisfied with a Civil Union, go make contract to the other be faithful, and leave HOLY MATRIMONY to the people who have testicles and uterus, and the very obvious natural way for milleniums have reproduced. Gosh.

“why can’t they be satisfied with a Civil Union?”

Exactly. But as soon as it became apparent that gay “Civil Unions” were OK with most people, the left dropped the issue and started pushing for “gay marriage”. This is just another leftist deconstructionist maneuver to bring down another pillar of our culture. The target in this case the institution of marriage.
