Some formal provision for procreation is common to all the world’s cultures, whether it’s an ornate religious wedding ceremony or a tribe with too few women kidnapping some from a rival tribe. It’s a survival requirement.

Conservatives have an instinctive respect for common sense, common law, and tradition. Conservative philosopher Edmund Burke wrote that when a “radical” devises an abstract social theory that contradicts traditional beliefs and practice, he’s almost always wrong. Pardon the pun, but “Gay marriage” is the most obvious example of a stupid, destructive idea that can be conceived.

Neil Bortz hammered this today, making the argument that it doesn’t affect the REST OF US, so why bother them? But it’s when your daughter gets married, and the Father of the Bride is suppose to walk the gal up to the front and say HER MOTHER AND I? Which side does the brides mother, father, and who are the bridesmaids, and the Groomsmen...it is so yucky why can’t they be satisfied with a Civil Union, go make contract to the other be faithful, and leave HOLY MATRIMONY to the people who have testicles and uterus, and the very obvious natural way for milleniums have reproduced. Gosh.
