NO....I quit smoking 34 years ago....its the whole cattle car, shoes off thing that I cant stand....
If the person was just lighting a cigarette why not continue the flight so as to not inconvenience the hundreds of other passengers? Maybe they were worried about the effects of secondary smoke on the other passengers. You can’t be too cautious about cancer, you know.

Same here. I haven’t flown since before 9/11. I could probably put up with the flight... it’s the security nonsense I couldn’t stand.

Yes. In 2004, my 78 year old mother with Alzheimers, was put in a room and had her slacks pulled down. She could still function with the Alzheimers but was confused and I had to get a pass to stay in the gate area until her plane was in the air. I had put her full length leg brace under her slacks and was told they HAD to check for explosives. I was sickened. She was gracious but part of it was her Alzheimers.
While flying last weekend I actually had to have a body scan. I suspect it was racial profiling.......old white lady.
Could be a dry run.
I was literally STRIP searched at O’Hare a couple of years ago. Obese TSA with literally a gloved hand in my crotch. I had on a body suit with snaps at the crotch area. They were not to be denied. I am scarred for life.
I do not smoke, but I remember 15-20 years ago when they had smoking on all the international flights. Nobody except smokers would sit in the back where the smokers were, and the front of the planes were so crowded. So I started sitting in the back, and many times I would had the middle 4 seats all to myself. I would just raise up all the arm-rests and sleep. I missed a few meals that way, but I enjoyed my sleep. Those were the days my friend!
I was flying internationally a few months ago through more than one airport checkpoint, and a few customs stops, and when I got to my final destination, I found 2 small pocket knives in my jacket, that I intended to hand out as presents. Go figure.
I just googled PETN because I wasn’t at all familiar with it. It says it’s the stuff the guy had on the Northwest flight over DTW in December?
That’s sad.
I was traveling with my mom sometime after 9/11 or after the shoebomber incident in December 2001...
She was in her late 80’s at the time. Not only did everyone go through security, but they did random security checks at the gate.
We flew from PHL and were connecting to another flight at Dulles. Sure enough, my mom was asked to remove her shoes at the gate at Dulles...and then she couldn’t get her shoes back on because her feet were swollen from the previous flight!
I knew the whole situation was absurd because the guy doing the checking was Middle Eastern man wearing a turban. I asked him where he was from...he smiled and said, “Pakistan.”
I wanted to scream!
By the way, I plan to refuse a body scan. I’m an old white lady, too...so they’ll target me.

The funniest part of the story was that her husband flipped out when he found out what happened. Cursing and such, saying they could have been arrested or whatnot.
As if she did it on purpose! Jerk.
I've always wondered why we can't put the "passive smoking" crap behind us once and for all, and research frequent flyers from the good old days.
But, of course they are probably all dead!
As for those poor air hostesses, I'm sure they must have all succumbed to lung cancer by now.
PS.Thank god I live in "smoker's Paradise" :-)
