Ground State's Jet (NM)
Albuquerque Journal ^ | 8/1/2010 | Albuquerque Journal

Posted on 08/01/2010 11:51:49 AM PDT by leapfrog0202

It is unconscionable for New Mexico politicians and appointed officials to use sick kids and rural residents to justify keeping up their jet-setting ways.

But that’s exactly what they are doing.

A little more of the story without registering would be nice.

NM list PING!(The NM list is available on my FR homepage for anyone to use. Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the list.) Pinging NM list and thanks Cedar Dave for keeping the list. I wasn't sure anyone had seen this yet so thought I'd ping the list.

I wasn’t sure how much I could post and you can watch a 30 sec. video and go on through to the story.

Sorry edcoil - the Journal is just terrible about that. They don’t seem to understand that people that don’t pay for the print version will NOT pay for the online version!

Do you know how much I can post? I don’t want to get Jim in trouble like he’s having with the Las Vegas paper....

Here’s a link to the same article, but it’s posted on Susana Martinez’s website (she’s (R) running for Gov. of NM):

The ABQ Journal is listed under the “excerpt” category on the copyright list. The general rule (as it has been explained to me by a moderator) is you can generally excerpt up to one-third of an article or a maximum of 300 words, whichever is less. The exceptions are AP-linked articles which are generally limited to a sentence or two. Now that means if an article is 600 words long, you get to excerpt up to 200. If you use Firefox as your browser, they have a neat little add-on called “Word Count Plus” that counts the words in any highlighted selection.

(above has 102 words)

Thanks a lot for the info! Where do you find the list? I looked to see if there was a place that showed the posting rules, but it was more about no profanity, etc.

I really appreciate your help.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page, watch a short video, and then read that and any other articles for the rest of your browser session.

Where do you find the list?

Hidden in plain sight!

Near the top of each forum page, below the article titles, are listed FR's selected keywords (not the list of most popular ones that are shown at upper right). Below are the FR keywords:

It wasn’t always there. It’s also on the FR home page and on the adminmoderator home page. But it was not easy to find and complaints finally got it added to its current location.

At my last job we had a Citation and I have to say it's a real kick being ferried around in one. Here in NM my new job has a mere turboprop, and actually we're not flying it much 'cause times they ain't exactly fat. What the heck - if it's good enough for me, it's good enough for the politicians.

But I will miss that jet.

No State public employee, including the governor, needs a jet. They can travel by smaller plane if necessary and drive otherwise like the rest of us. When going to places like DC they can take commerical jets in coach, just like the rest of us.

I operate five Citations. Our smallest, the Mustang, is more economical to operate than most turboprops.

The problem is the governor doesn’t need to travel so much such as to warrant the purchase of any airplane.
