Dem gov hopeful to be far away when Obama's in Ga.

ATLANTA – Georgia's most prominent Democrat will be nowhere near Barack Obama when the president comes to Atlanta on Monday.

Former Gov. Roy Barnes' campaign said it was simply a matter of conflicting schedules as Barnes tries to catch the attention of voters more than 100 miles away in southern Georgia and ultimately win his old job back.

It's a tough year for Democrats, who control both the U.S. Senate and House, with voters frustrated by the sluggish economy and high unemployment. And Georgia is a GOP stronghold carried by Republican John McCain in 2008. Political experts say that means Barnes needs to distance himself from national Democrats — and Obama — as much as possible if he's to win in November.

And King Roy doesn’t think the voters that would vote for him, and Obama, won’t think it’s odd? He is a chickenshit Cobb County Zoning Lawyer who happened to have the misguided fortune to rule Georgia for a time. We all know who and what he is; he’s a crook, schemer and a Democrat - enough said this go round [chickenshit, crook and schemer are my opinions only Roy, for legal purposes. Democrat is a fact, asshole.]

2003, Barnes was awarded the Profile in Courage Award by the John F. Kennedy Library for his success while governor of minimizing the Confederate battle emblem on the Georgia state flag despite the political fallout. It is widely believed that his support of the flag change significantly contributed to his re-election defeat in 2002.

Following his defeat, Barnes decided to lend his talents to Atlanta Legal Aid Society, Inc., working for six months as a full-time volunteer. During this time, he provided legal advice to indigent clients pro bono, and established a website outlining the rights of consumers: www.myconsumerrights.com.

For his leadership in minimizing the Confederate battle emblem on the Georgia state flag despite the political fallout, Barnes was awarded the 2003 Profile in Courage Award by the John F. Kennedy Library.

Upon completing his service at Atlanta Legal Aid Society, Barnes founded the Barnes Law Group with his daughter Allison Barnes Salter, son-in-law John Salter, and long-time law partner Charles Tanksley. The Barnes Law Group continues Barnes’ private law practice which began in 1975 when he formed his first law firm.

Georgia Supreme Court dismisses Barnes case challenging voter ID
The Georgia Supreme Court on June 12, 2007 unanimously dismissed a legal challenge to the state’s voter ID law. Former Gov. Roy Barnes, argued before the court that the voter ID law was unconstitutional because Ms. Lake the plaintiff and others did not have driver’s licenses and were therefore excluded in a discriminatory manner.

Interesting, remembering how the MSM crowed so loudly when Repubs. avoided Pres. Bush. They’re not quite so loud about Dems avoiding Obama, are they?

This picture is up at Drudge. I don't have any idea what it's about or where it was taken, but I do know that if I'm a dem looking at re-election, I don't want this tutti-fruity anywhere near me.

During the election it was said by the press that Obammy’s jet smelled.
Don’t think I’d care to be around his sorry butt either.

that one secret service agent looks like he’s checking out the “rear view”. That picture certainly doesn’t do anything for the “plays for the other side” rumors about the One.

It's a tough year for Democrats, who control both the U.S. Senate and House, with voters frustrated by the sluggish economy and high unemployment which are both directly attributable to those same Democrats.

Fixed.

I’m still waiting for that Dodge Van plant that Roy promised (just a couple weeks before election day) was being built in Savannah/Pooler.

DaimlerChrysler removed all other candidate sites from their list, but never said they were going to build in Pooler. And they never did. In 2009, finally part of the land was used for a plant by Mitsubishi Power Systems.

It's true -- Barnes has a pencil and a full tank of gas ready for any time Zero is scheduled. Professional campaigners call it the "wouldn't be caught dead on the same dias with him" strategy. Thanks NormsRevenge.

Obama will be courted behind the scenes by GA chief Demo and Barnes advisor Bobby Kahn (30327). Roy Barnes campaign needs Obama Dollars to be re-elected ..
