What’s the most effective counter? Ridicule? Ignoring them?
Ridicule.
Incessant ridicule.
The Brietbart Strategy. Show everyone that they are even more racist using their own words and actions.
Ignore them, and laugh at them. Spend as little time on it as possible because that’s what they want you to do. The more it’s in the air, even as a lie, the more it gains mindshare.
If someone tells you that tea partiers are racists ask them if they’ve ever been to one. and then invite them to the next one so they can see it first hand, and then get on the offensive talking about the real issues.
Exposing their lies. Call it "McCarthyism." Joe McCarthy followed this philosophy: if even one of your friends is a communist, you need to answer a few questions for the House Un-American Activities Committee.
The Democratic Party has embraced essentially the same philosophy: if you have a Tea Party gathering of 2 million people in Washington DC, and just one guy at the back of the crowd has a sign that says "Taxpayer=N---ER," then all 2 million of those people are racists.
Even if that guy with the sign is from MoveOn.org, and voted for Cynthia McKinney for president because Barack Obama wasn't sufficiently left-wing for him.
I say that when they call us racists, it's the new form of McCarthyism.

That is actually a tough question for me to answer... since I was
raised in west Texas... I would neither ridicule them nor ignoare
them. But a baseball bat would insure that it only happend once.

Once the public understands how much they have been snookered over the years, they come around.
I vote ridicule. They are the new PRAVDA. They are the new Baghdad Bob.

You can reason with one man in a quiet room, assuming both of you are civil. But to move the American public at large, ridicule is more effective.
The race card has but one purpose -
to silence those who question or argue against the leftist agenda. And it has worked for decades.
The “most effective counter” is to make it NOT WORK.
Keep pointing out the left’s failures and evil policies.
Best way to counter them is to start refering to these people as the Black Ku Klux Klan. A weak, wussified approach, the “we have more class than that” approach...is a loser.
You have to take on these racists, and counter them with their own racism.
Cancel your support of radical liberals...
If you subscribe to a liberal newspaper, call and cancel.
If you enjoy movies, quit attending for the sake of your country.
If your children are in public schools, see if you can get them into a conservative charter school or private school.
Cancel all magazine subscriptions.
Do NOT buy from companies that are known supporters of the far left.
If you have liberal friends, see if you can "do better"...
