WASHINGTON - Gary Tavenner is seeing his dog, Gidget, for the first time since a surgery that probably saved her life. Gidget was shot twice in the backyard of the family's home in Chevy Chase. The person on the other end of the gun was a Metropolitan Police Officer.

Unless there are teeth marks on the cops leg, there should be no dogs shot. This is getting way out of hand.

If you have a dog you care about, that you think there is the remostest chance the police may say is a threat, do not give the police any chance or reason to ever come to your home.
I read too many of these stories. I read one a short time ago here on FR where the police went into a bathroom where a elderly woman purposely put her toy dog to restrict her from running into the police, and they shot the dog. I think it was a Peke mix.

Another thing, this is like when the cops go to a suicides house and end up killing him/her. They went to this guy’s house because of a false buglar alarm and end up shooting the home owners dog. What the he**, did they think the dog broke in and what were they doing in the basement anyway? The owner can say don’t bash these idiots if he wants but they need bashing and they need jail time.
