Scandal: The former Ways And Means chairman faces possible expulsion for playing fast and loose with his finances and taxes. Since that's what the Congress has done with ours, maybe they should all face expulsion.
It is said absolute power corrupts absolutely, and for much of his 40 years in Congress, many spent riding herd on the nation's tax code, Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., had absolute power over our tax laws and finances. He was, in political terms, 10 feet tall and bullet-proof. Not anymore.
We don't know if his shenanigans got too much for even House Democrats to handle or if they just felt they had enough problems this November, particularly on the issue of taxes, to have as one more albatross around their neck someone who made avoiding them an art form.
The House Ethics Committee, an unintentional oxymoron, has voted to form an adjudication panel that will now conduct something similar to a trial of an investigative panel's findings that Rangel has committed serious ethics violations that warrant some kind of action.
This may or may not be significant, but this is the first time in eight years such a panel has been formed, the last time being one that resulted in the expulsion of Rep. James Traficant, D-Ohio, who later went to prison.

Do you remember how the late Jack French Kemp used to turn cartwheels praising “my good friend” Charlie Rangel? Somehow, I missed the headline that said “Rangel endorses Dole-Kemp.”
Privately, the Rats wish Rangel would just decide it’s time to retire, and make the problem go away.
He could be expelled, and he aint happy about it.
I predict a whitewash after suitable murmuring and chattering.
Make a plea deal with him if he takes out Barney.
Charlie must’ve brought home plenty of pork to be reelected as many times as he has been.
Yes, we all would dearly love to see Congress clean themselves up, but sadly, that will not happen. Even as I write this and you all read this, they are circling the wagons to protect one of their own. Remember the House Banking Scandal.
He'll retire, once they get wind of how the committee is gonna rule.
Even if removed, he'll still end up with all of the retirement perks and benefits as if he'd led a squeaky clean career.
I suspect they want to hurry up and get it done with before the GOP gets control.
Charlie must know where a lot of bodies are buried.
Time to stock up on the popcorn.
I am very curious to know just who it is that old Rangel crossed. He’s been getting away with his corruption for years, and they are just now coming after him. There has got to be a big backstory here.
Rangel has been Queen Nancy’s pet for a long time. We may want to get some popcorn!
It doesn’t really matter if he resigns, someone just like him will replace him.
Not likely.
They are just trying to sucker the voters again before the November elections.
.
They will pay him off to keep their “bodies” buried..
Throw the fat pig in prison and throw away the key!
Against the walll....308....
