The Obama administration has lauded its support for the new Paycheck Fairness Act (S.182) through recommendations made by the administration's Equal Pay Enforcement Task Force for passage of the bill, while the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has commended the administration for its decision to favorably recommend the bill.

The Paycheck Fairness Act (S.182) bill will provide the means to eliminate the existing wage gap between men and women by closing the loopholes and updating the Equal Pay Act of 1963.

Female workers in the city of Hartford, especially single mothers who are presently the main source of income in their households, are anticipating an early passage of this bill into law because this is one that will finally enable them to earn the equal compensation that they absolutely deserve for doing work that is equal to their male counterparts.

Every time you pass a road crew where the men have shovels in hand, the female is holding the STOP/SLOW sign....

I see it everyday, and I'm sure they are on the same union pay scale as the men.

This "equality" is so much B.S.

Women in the workforce became a necessity due to the rising costs of goods (due to government tax law and regulation), AND due to income taxes, etc. sky-rocketing, where the bread-winner and the nuclear family were targeted for extinction.

Today, we have the "single mother" politically-correct jargon for most of whom used to be known as tramps, sluts, un-wed mothers, etc. (Yes, I understand they always use the argument that "widows" and "divorcee's" are "single mothers", too, but the BULK of the single mothers today are just un-wed mothers, leaning on others to pay for their lifestyle choices and the "fathers" are either un-named, or unknown (due to numerous partners).

Do away with maternity leave. If you want equal pay for equal work, you need to do equal work and have equal experience. I am so tired of these women complaining that they are discriminated against. Yes, discrimination does happen, but you chose to have your kid, so why should I have to work late because you need to pick him/her up at school? Why should I work late on Christmas eve because you want to go celebrate? BTW - I’m a woman.

Lumping all mothers without husbands into the "single mother" category is just another attempt by the left to diminish the value of the traditional two-parent home. It's too bad that we allow the left to control language. We should use the three different descriptions.

The social demographic of our great America now includes single- female households where mothers, who are the sole breadwinners are forced to live less than they deserve or live above their means by becoming dependent on credit cards.

It should be satire but its not. You can't make stuff up as silly as this -- now sole breadwinners are forced to live above their means! Who knew that the police came over and made single parents buy large screen TVs, fancy cars, and expensive clothes. I'm just shocked. I always thought people bought stuff like that because they wanted to, or they thought they could improve their situation and afford the purchases they made. I never knew that single mothers were forced to go out to Best Buy and load up the charge card. /s

There are two other major factors, rising taxes, AND the DEVALUATION of the US dollar by the FED.

The dollar depreciates, CONgress can’t stop spending, and taxes are a ponzi scheme depending on credit(debt) expansion and mild inflation to pay for all of the “entitlements” that the libs love.

They will NEVER be able to tax enough to pay for it all.

As to the other points, you are right. This is nothing more the encouraging MORE females and children to replace MEN as a source of guidance and security.

The PFA (S. 182; H.R. 11) was initially introduced in 2008 as a companion to the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. The bill, which passed in the U.S. House of Representatives in January 2009, has since been on hold in the Senate. The PFA would amend the Equal Pay Act of 1963 (EPA) in numerous ways, including: providing for compensatory and punitive damages for violations of the EPA; reversing the requirement that employees opt in to class-action EPA lawsuits (instead of permitting them to opt out of the suit); and prohibiting retaliation against employees who inquire about, discuss, or disclose wage information. The PFA also would narrow the employer affirmative defense, which currently allows an employer to defend against a claim by showing that a pay differential was caused by “any factor other than sex.” Under the PFA, employers would be required to prove that wage disparities are based on a “bona fide factor other than sex,” such as education or experience.

This bill has been on hold inthe Senate for the past two years.
