Someone should turn it into a cable miniseries - like Pillars of the Earth or John Adams. We never go to movies any more; watching them on cable at home is so much better!

A trilogy? I do hope they cut the long speech by Galt at the end. If you hadn’t figured out the theme of the novel by then......

How about an ANTHEM movie with the sound track by RUSH?

If it’s like the 1940s Fountainhead movie it ought to at least be good for a few laughs. If that woman’s atheistic nonsense is the best argument for capitalism, I’ll line up with the socialists.

I hope they get this right. Rand’s genius was not really her philosophy, it was her understanding of what motivates the statists. The characters in Atlas Shrugged seem a little too real these days.

Probably should, if you’re going to write an article on it. Every American should read it as well, because it is in the process of transitioning from fiction to prophecy.

I do hope they cut the long speech by Galt at the end. I think Parts 2 and 3 of the trilogy are the speech.
Just kidding!

I thought the book would have been better without the speech. We had already heard the speech given by others, and the plot had delivered it much better. Bleah. Why summarize in a speech what you just spent 800 pages telling me anyway?

The second one will just be a short deterioration bridge to the finale....a short teaser that everyone whines about, like Empire Strikes Back.

Rand’s aesthetics were of secondary importance to her sexual politics in informing her political philosophy. Her heroines are sui generis women who are inevitably ravished, and the sexual tension between the male and female protagonists is what motivates their philosophical positions.

haha! Hilarious. I just got done reading that book a month ago. Great concept but waaay too long and repetitive and preachy. At the end I was feeling like “Enough already! I get it!”

I'm having a nauseous vision of a sweaty, manic Sean Penn 3 hour long screech-a-palooza in which Galt’s speech will morph into a giant statist love fest with an Orwellian 10 minutes of hate at the end directed toward Tea Party participants.

Finished reading it a while ago. Had to remind myself I was reading a book, and not the newspaper.
