With one word, "yes," Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-SC, solidified his maverick status and no doubt fanned the flames of conservative resentment already running high against him, as he voted Tuesday in the Senate Judiciary Committee to support the nomination of Elena Kagan for a seat on the Supreme Court, the lone Republican to do so.
"I'm going to vote for her because I believe this last election has consequences," Graham said of Kagan, adding that her positions are "in the mainstream" and saying it was "not a difficult decision."
As if to underline his conservative status, Graham reminded, "No one tried to beat Obama harder than me, except perhaps John McCain," but Graham said senators shouldn't replace the president's judgment with their own, but merely ask, is the nominee qualified, of good character, and a judge, not a politician? To that, Graham answered yes.

The Democrats have dirt on Lindsay. COUNT on it.
IF elections are hard-fought, FAIR (no voter intimidation, foreign campaign donations, felons and dead people voting, scumbag union and ACORN criminal activities, etc.) , and NOT an attempted Socialist/Communist takeover of our country... DUMBASS.
Conservatives, the Tea Party, or SOMEONE, ANYONE needs to put up a qualified candidate for office against this traitor, and put EVERYTHING we have into defeating the ambulance-chasing "gang" (of 14) member from SC.
Except of course those last elections won by Republicans, right Lindsey?
The very last reasons anyone ever was able to give to support Lindsey Graham were his Pro-Life record and the usual Giuliani-esque establishment GOP talking point about Strict Constructionist judges.
Lindsey has now blown the judges argument out of the water.
What is even left, Lindsey? What? Beyond Free Republic and everything else - I mean this as a serious question now: what reason is left that a Conservative should support Lindsey Graham when we can't even count on him to stand firm on Strict Constructionist judges?
Seriously, let's say FR is too hard on Republicans - too purist, too demanding, unrealistic. Why should even a “mainstream” grassroots Conservative support you, Lindsey, when you can't even be relied upon to come through with the bare minimum you establishment Moderates promise?
Even the “Strict Constructionist” argument has now been nullified from your defense, Lindsey. What's left?
This is what I'm afraid of. Just like Lieberman. Then, the Dems can send Juan back to the Senate.
Hmmmm...actually, this really could work...Juan has threatened to jump to the Dems more than once, hasn't he? By adopting the "indie" mantle, he can cash in on his "mavericky" persona and continue to play the Pubbies vs Dems with impunity.
Of course, if he does go Independent, the really interesting thing will be to see which (ostensible) Republicans continue to back him.
It's too early for popcorn. Another donut, please!
Uber RINO Lindsey Ping
"Republican by day, Democrat by night."
Want on or off this ping list?
Just FReepmail me.
If Michael Steele had just one gram of one testicle, he’d publicly demand that Linseed switch parties immediately and get it over with.
And so goes the GOP.
Where is your evidence for your wild idiotic accusations?
If it’s proof that he’s homosexual that’s not exactly gonna surprise anyone.
Maybe it is with a young boy congressional page. THAT would ;-)
