Democrats take generic ballot lead

Democrats this week have jumped into a 6-percentage-point generic-ballot edge for November’s election, according to a new Gallup poll.

Forty-nine percent of the 1,535 adults surveyed nationwide said they would prefer to vote for a Democrat to represent their congressional district. Forty-three percent are more likely to vote for a Republican.

Just more than a month ago, Republicans held a 6-point edge on Democrats in the poll.

Though the two parties have gone back in forth in Gallup’s generic ballot since the spring, Republicans have held a lead for most of the last three months.

The 6-point edge Democrats currently enjoy is the largest they have seen in months.

Democrats have yet to catch Republicans among independent voters, however, but are closing the gap.

Republicans hold a 4 percentage point edge among independents in this week's poll, 43-39 percent. Just a week before, Republicans led by 14 percentage points. In mid-June, Republicans led 52 percent to 31 percent among independents.

In her analysis, Gallup’s Lydia Saad speculated that the generic ballot bump for Democrats this past week could be due to the passage of financial reform.

“The financial reform bill is the second-biggest piece of legislation to get through Congress this year, after healthcare reform, and it enjoyed majority support,” Saad wrote. “According to a USA Today/Gallup poll in June, 55% of Americans were in favor of legislation expanding government regulation of financial institutions — including 72% of Democrats and 56% of independents. Only Republicans were generally opposed.”

Yet, Rasmussen’s generic congressional poll, released yesterday, says:

Republican candidates now hold a nine-point lead over Democrats on the Generic Congressional Ballot for the week ending Sunday, July 18, the widest gap between the two parties in several weeks.

Well.... over the same exact sampling period, Rasmussen polled 3,500 likely voters, vs Gallup’s 1,400 “adults” and came up with a +9 for the GOP. Gallup tends to be all over the map. I wouldn’t lose too much sleep over it.

Ras still has the R’s up by 9 and Zogby has them up by a few.

This would seem to be an outlier. TIme will tell.

As November gets closer and Dems get more desparate you will see more and more of this in ever increasing shrillness. Rigged polls, dishonest reporting, accusations of racism, delusional lies about the state of the economy and massive amounts of illegal fundraising and election fraud. Get used to it.

The media has begun the war on November. The big media push after those terrible June job numbers indicating a GOP landslide in November in recent weeks was just the set up story so they could then build a false Democrat comeback story. I do not know a single person who has lost their intensity or dislike for the direction of this socialist government. These polls are bullshit.

Forty-nine percent of the 1,535 adults surveyed nationwide ....

Useless survey of adults. Rasmussen has the GOP up by 9% (45% to 36%) in a survey of likely voters released yesterday.

As I have posted many times, America is finished.
The majority has been dumbed down to the level of IDIOT.
I could not, even imagine in my wildest dreams, think that blacks, illegals, and Marxist would take over the USA, now USSA.

Get used to it.

Einstein defined insanity as repeating a process while expecting different results.

By his definition, the majority in this country is insane for continually voting for demoncRATs while expecting different results.

For the demoncRATs and their RINO allies to even be on the electoral radar after their many years of shameful and corrupt performance, after continually and increasingly “sending hither swarms of agents to harass our people and eat out their substance,” shows that the majority in this country are either extremely stupid or insane or both.

This is to give the dems a great talking point.

It’s not true, they know it, and we know it too.

Exactly. Propaganda...remember Biden’s statement yesterday that there will be a Dem “surprise” (victory) in November? This faux survey is an attempt to create a perception in people’s minds that the Dems are a sure thing and that a vote against them is a waste of time.

RCP has GOP up too.

Don’t you notice the coordination of the Dems and the media going full out for november already?

Its starting and its going to get ugly.

BTW - I can’t wait.

easy champ
i just hate to see any hope given to Dems whether the poll is bad, an outlier or just plain old propaganda. of all of them i still think Ras is probably the most accurate but i really thought it would be an absolute blowout if even Gallup was registering a GOP lead in the ballot. Time will tell i suppose
