As of 10:00 p.m. EDT, hours after Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack fired Shirley Sherrod for racism in her official duties after being exposed by BigGovernment.com there is a near total blackout by the mainstream news media on the scandal.
Sherrod was appointed a year ago by Vilsack to be the Georgia director of Rural Development where she doled out millions of dollars in federal funds.
Just days before her appointment, the Obama Justice Department settled a lawsuit by Sherrod and her husband claiming discrimination against their farm cooperative for a reported $13 million.
A search of Google News and Google Blogs shows nothing form the Associated Press or Reuters. Nothing from Politico or The Hill. Nothing from The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times. Nothing from MSNBC or CNN. Nothing from ABC or NBC. CBS gets partial credit for running a story earlier about Sherrod's racist remarks but has failed to follow up with the story of her firing.
Credit goes to Fox News for reporting the story and updating it with news of Sherrod's termination:
The Agriculture Department announced Monday, shortly after FoxNews.com published its initial report on the video, that Sherrod had resigned.
"There is zero tolerance for discrimination at USDA, and I strongly condemn any act of discrimination against any person," Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said in a written statement. "We have been working hard through the past 18 months to reverse the checkered civil rights history at the department and take the issue of fairness and equality very seriously."
Sherrod was videotaped at an NAACP dinner in March of this year speaking about an incident where she discriminated against a white farmer while acting in her offical capacity because she is black and is prejudiced against white farmers.
Big Government broke the story with video to back it up around mid-day. The failure of the mainstream media to touch this story even after Sherrod was forced to resign and was publicly rebuked by an Obama cabinet secretary is a shameful example of the censorious nature of the liberal mainstream media.
It may be nearing time for all of us to stop using google. They have changed their engine so much (trying to protect Obama and the democrats) the whole thing sucks now anyway.
Didn’t think I needed the /s tag.
"Shirley who? I'm sorry but i've never heard of her and doubt
I will hear of her in the future."
Soon we will all know great Obama is because he did all this with no record of ever appointing any cabinet members.
Yup, the MSM will be all over this! Wow! I’ll bet Eric Holder is still at the office working on briefs for the prosecution and, and she’ll be investigated, wait for it....wait for it.....crickets.....crickets
Glad to know she is the only one. Wait didn’t Zero say to paraphrase you and I know how they really are racist crap, when he stated his grandmother was a “typical white person.”
BeeZactlyee
It's sounding more and more like Zimbabwe :((
Reparations
Dare I say this?
The intentional ignoring of this story makes the enemedia just as guilty of this crime.
And this IS a crime.
For Mr. Breitbart, I suggest this:
You are a very smart man, and I hope you know strategy.
You also know that you have a target painted upon you.
Keep your data safe, keep backups of your backups.
Keep written instructions to trusted friends.
Notice everything, all the time.
FReepers who know him, assist if you can.
He is the only one we have.
We got your back, Andrew.
I guess I switched over just in time, before I get on some more “lists”.... I switched all of my bookmarks, etc .a few weeks ago. Dropped Facebook last year, tired of all their “tracking.”
Don't they understand the evil of prejudice isn't the choice in victims, but the actual judging with bias and hatred - judging without fairness, judging without respect for each person's human dignity. The choice of victim - white, black, Jewish, Christian, Southern, female, male, young, old - it's not the issue.
The tactic - the evil - the mindlessness of hatred - that force doesn't care who the victims are... and that's where the battle's joined.
The MSM is no different than Bull Conner or the White Citizens Councils. Same tactic - same mindless hatred - same rationalizations - just a different victim class. They hate the southern working class - and as all haters - they create names to humiliate them - in this case "redneck". Luckily, our people took it - and used it on ourselves - much the way blacks took the term "nigger" and stole power from white racists by using it on themselves. Those who practice hatred are soooooo the same. Shame on them. Shame on the MSM.
This is what I do. I use the slightest excuse to add the conversation to my local online paper. The Post-Star posted an article about the so-called tea party division, so I used it to post the Hot Air article about the USDA resignation, as well as the Project 21 response. This is what Breitbart is doing on the national level and it’s what we have to do on the local level. Don’t let your local media get away with anything w/o challenging.
Great idea. You - sageb1 - are fighting the machine. Good for you.
Thanks for a new word....
Definitions of pernicious on the Web:
* baneful: exceedingly harmful
* insidious: working or spreading in a hidden and usually injurious way
Look up Pigford vs Glickman. You paid big time and still are. If only you knew the true story behind this. Having known someone high up in Dept of Ag, this was reparations pure and simple.
