Joe Wierzbicki, coordinator for the Tea Party Express, issued the following statement Monday in response to the Tea Party Federation's announcement Sunday about the Federation's relationship with the Tea Party Express:
"The Tea Party Express with over 400,000 members is by far larger than the Tea Party Federation’s entire membership. Most rank-and-file tea party activists think we’re talking about Star Trek when we try to explain who the “Federation” is. Given the absurdity of the actions by the "Federation," this is quite fitting, since their conduct is alien to our membership.
"Groups trying to say who can or can't be 'expelled' from the tea party movement is arrogant and preposterous. Perhaps this explains why so many tea party groups have left the "Federation" during the past few months. Whatever the reason, most tea party activists are focused on taking back their country and the upcoming 2010 elections and not silly power games being played by individuals such as those in the "Federation."

Yah, I saw a “conservative” on Larry King, the guy with the big ears that was in Ferris Buellers Day Off, who said he was against the “Tea Party” because it would split the Republican vote, as if it were a real party.
Who do any of these people think they are to declare themselves a leader, representative, or some kind of "official" for a completely grass roots movement??
Who appointed this jerk as ‘leader’ of the tea party movement. I don’t think we need a self appointed ‘leader’!

Mark Skoda, a member of the Memphis Tea Party, told a crowd of roughly 200 conservative activists gathered outside the state capitol that 21 factions of the movement will form the National Federation Tea Party. Skoda said the federation will act as a “rapid response” to “misinformation” allegedly put forth by the “mainstream media.”
The National Federation Tea Party includes groups like the Tea Party Express, which is currently on a 42-city bus tour across the country, as well as Tea Party Nation, ResistNet, Constitutional TEA Party and American Grassroots Coalition.

This is a very disturbing post, because some on the list of associates are people with whom I have worked and have great respect: AFP, Richard Viguerie, Freedom Works, and others. I have to think that they started out to help form a unified, serious, and sincere movement. Which suggests to me that something has gone horribly wrong.
Does anyone know if a fellow named Dan Tripp has anything to do with the Federation? I know that Americans for Limited Government sent him in to divide and conquer the Tea Party movement, and this whole episode seems to have his fingerprints all over it. When I was a consultant at ALG, he did the same in NY23 in the weeks leading up to the election, in Alaska, in Massachusetts (thoroughly offending the Brown people, and elsewhere when I was at ALG.
Curiosity, ALG is not on the list of Federation associates, Which means we may be seeing another Tripp black bag search and destroy mission.

I have not consented for anyone to speak for me. The left, the media, and RINOs cannot understand a real grassroots uprising; they cannot understand those who don't need a group or spokesperson. To me, a 'Tea Party' is an event, not an organization. Tea partiers only need a place and time, and they show up (if their jobs and responsibilities permit), then they go home and have dinner with their families. I am and individual, and will continue to grow my network of friends and acquaintances, to advance the conservative causes.

Even Megyn Kelly has stopped reporting about it after she was attacked with the racism name calling.
Yet again the far left wins because the GOP , the so called media and even some on the right have no balls to report about this now.

Sounds to me like this Christina Botteri thinks herself the self appointed “leader” of the Tea Party movement, that at her will and whim people can join or be kicked out.

While I was in the process of posting a thread on it, this one appeared.
The TPX is quite busy doing what tea partiers do, working to get conservatives elected so this foolishness by cnn and ‘tea party’ groups/coalitions/”federations” etc isn't top priority.
Another group that wants to be seen as leaders pulled this same stuff right at the beginning and their trying to turn the thousands of tea party groups against the TPX has not worked.
To the contrary, they just expose themselves when they do this kind of stuff and the Tea Party Express keep plugging along with much support.
