Car bomb in Mexican drug war changes ground rules
AP ^ | July 17, 2010 | ALICIA A. CALDWELL

Mexican drug traffickers' first car-bomb attack against police has revealed a new level of cold-blooded planning that is forcing this border city and security forces to change the way they confront violence.

Police said La Linea drug gang — the same group blamed for the March killing of a U.S. consulate employee and her husband — lured federal officers and paramedics to the site of a car bomb by dressing a bound, wounded man in a police uniform and calling in a false report of an officer shot.

The gang then exploded a car holding as much as 22 pounds (10 kilograms) of explosives, killing the decoy, a rescue worker and a federal officer. A regional military commander said a cell phone might have been used to detonate the bomb.

The gang promised to strike again, with graffiti painted on the wall of a Ciudad Juarez shopping center. "What happened ... is going to keep happening against all the authorities," the message read. "We have more car bombs."

He fears such attacks could hit the morale of his already overworked police force.

"Having attacks, direct attacks, on the police department creates the possibility of police just retiring or quitting," he said.

While cartels have often used grenades and high-powered rifles against police and soldiers, Thursday's attack was the first time a cartel has successfully used a sizable bomb to attack security forces.

Brig. Gen. Eduardo Zarate, the commander of the regional military zone, said as much as 22 pounds (10 kilograms) of explosives might have been used in the attack, adding that burned batteries connecting to a mobile phone were found at the scene.

Civilian Ciudad Juarez residents also were emotionally shaken by the bombing, which scattered debris over a 300-yard radius, blew out windows of a nearby home.

I am applying to a doctoral program in October and my proposed research/dissertation thesis for my required Research Statement will attempt to further confirm such a growing convergence between international criminal groups/organizations, specifically the two largest and most powerful Mexican drug vartels, and Islamic terrorist groups and the ramifications of such a convergence not only on/for America but for Mexico itself (e.g.: the two largest Mexican could set aside their difference, join forces, and either literally topple the Mexican government and take the country over themselves or back/support and then place a crime lord to replace the current or future Mexican president. We have long been concerned with Afghanistan being a narco-state run by terrorists...consider a true narco-state run by Mexican drug cartels....with Islamic terrorism connections....on the Mexican-American border).

Hell, they've been beheading people in that nasty corrupt country for years now...

These people suck!

Instead of making their own county right, millions of these people defecate on our laws and sovereignty, while trashing our country and economy, costing Americans tens of billions, choking off our hospitals, jails, schools and social services.....

Yet we still have whining sniveling traitors on this board saying, "Well, ya can't blame them for wanting a better life".

Spit!

It’s not that the drug criminals wouldn’t do this type of thing before or didn’t know- it is just that now they feel they can get away with doing it. I remember in the late 1970s when a bar in Agua Prieta was blown up as part of a drug war. Decapitation is also not new for the drug movers- it just happens more often now. I can remember over the years every once in a while a headless body would be dumped on the US side- someone living here that crossed the wrong bunch- message to others and all that.

I have been saying for a few years now that Mexico is becoming the new Colombia. If little old me could figure that out I am sure our leaders have seen it coming too. Must be a real compelling reason for them to ignore and allow the border area to become a war zone. Follow the money- I wish I could.

I'm afraid we are going to find out what that is like.

The GD drug cartels in Mexico have more money than the Mideastern religious fanatics. Were talking building full of cash and if that isn't enough, they've got half the government on their payroll down there.

The Mideastern religious fanatics don't even need the Mexicans help, since we legally import tens of thousands for the Mideast...There here...

In fact, thousands of them are circling *all* of our major airports in taxis as we speak, not to mention they're crawling all over many other sensitive areas...

Like Heston said in ape movie, "It's a mad house".

Come on, Mexico. Get real. Start at the top; you know where the drug lords live. Use air and artillery to level their abodes, then move on the underlings. Take out the first couple of supervisory levels, and the rest will scatter like roaches.

“...this is an all-out attack not only on the immediate problem for them, the police, but on democracy and law in Mexico under the conservative party.”

The Mexicans are going to get to institute their all-night firing squads before we get to.

All by design (COG, etc.), Alex Jones has the most logical scenario, I know it's controversial, but , hopefully we've grown beyond such trifaults.

The “if” disappeared November 4, 2008. Now we are waiting on the “when”, my FRiend.

It grieves me to say that I agree with you, FRiend.

Something more important disappeared November 22, 1963, malignant - invasive, proliferative, dysplastic e-veil has been metastasizing ever since.

Normal cells turn into cancer cells when injurious stimuli cause damage to specific parts of cell DNA, such as gatekeeper and caretaker genes.

So we're not "born with cancer cells" at all, cancers develop from completely normal cells when they're damaged - waxing metaphorically.
