Industry experts say the latest deep water drilling moratorium issued by the White House has only fanned the flames of discontent by oil companies working in the Gulf.

One analyst says there are new predictions on how fast the rigs might be pulling out and leaving the Gulf.

Brian Petty with the International Association of Drilling Contractors says we should have a good idea of just how many rigs will be lost by Labor Day.

According to Petty, the new so-called "softer" moratorium is actually harder on the industry than the first one

Another attack at destroying Texas and the South. They don't vote for him anyway. He is attacking his enemy just like a foreigner. Since he is one. He is from OUTER FREAKING SPACE!

The Hussein energy program is very clear. Destroy the energy industry and make energy very expensive. Since every industry that produces anything, including food, needs energy to produce goods and deliver those goods to market, this does not bode well.

Nationalize or destroy auto production, general insurance (AIG) health insurance, the health industry, finance and banking, the defense industry, and energy. Looks like Hussein and the rats who support him are leading the US headlong back to the 18th century. Contact me via freepmail re business and real estate opportunities in Canada.

Yes indeed and it makes me pleased as punch when Carville's stating the real truth about Obama.

I think the author misses the point. The Obama Administration is listening and approves of the result. Offshore oil drilling is further restricted and economic hardship is increased. That's a twofer for leftists that want to eliminate carbon power sources and increase dependency on the government.

I'm convinced that was the opening salvo for Hillary! to begin her campaign challenge for 2012.

Just to force full appreciation for the stupidity of “O” policies:

All the American rig workers, drilling personnel and etc. out to renounce their American citizenship and claim citizenship in one of the countries still actively pursuing off shore drilling. They can then leave (taking their paychecks with them) and work/live elsewhere.

See how THAT goes down!!

I say that most of those rig workers, et al, are Americans first....as opposed to those in DC....how about all those commies in DC, disavow THEIR American citizenship, and claim "citizenship in one of the countries still activiely pursuing off shore drilling COMMUNISM"

Actually, WHO cares if the DC riff raf decides to up-stakes. We'd love THEM to go. I meant, that the absense of this huge chunk of experienced labor, of technologically savy and entreprenurially successful America would sure be missed and QUICK!

NO ONE would EVER miss the clowns in DC.

There are few of these rigs and long waiting lists to use them. Once in place, they tend to stay for long periods of time. Now that they have been chased away to the next willing customers on the list, it may be many years before the American sites and workers have access to them again. The workers will have to follow the oil rigs or find some other form of employment in this crappy economy. America loses another measure of self sufficiency in exchange for even greater dependency on foreign suppliers.

I cared for the radio/electronics on the tuna seiner fleet in the late 70's in San Diego. When the regulations made it nearly impossible to run a profitable fleet of tuna boats, they relocated to New Zealand. The boats, crews and families. The canneries that processed the tuna closed and left lots of folks unemployed. I really don't see the difference when it comes to the oil rigs. Those workers have a valuable skill set, but it is only valuable on an oil rig. Many will follow the rigs and their services will be contracted by the new operators. It's simply a matter of survival, not a matter of patriotism. I doubt they will renounce citizenship. They will simply operate as expatriates doing what they do best. Their incomes will no longer be part of the US economy or tax base.

Where’s the next lawsuit?

Unless they’ve given up?

It would seem that the courts could find the Dept. of the Interior in contempt of court as by filing ‘modified’ moratoriums, they are violating the spirit of the ruling with spurious new actions?
