PPP: Obama, Palin tied 46/46 in 2012 polling
Hot Air ^ | July 15, 2010 | Ed Morrissey

No, this is not coming from Rasmussen or an internal GOP poll, but from the normally Democrat-sympathetic Public Policy Polling...

With his approval numbers hitting new lows it’s no surprise that Barack Obama’s numbers in our monthly look ahead to the 2012 Presidential race are their worst ever this month. He trails Mitt Romney 46-43, Mike Huckabee 47-45, Newt Gingrich 46-45, and is even tied with Sarah Palin at 46. The only person tested he leads is Jan Brewer, who doesn’t have particularly high name recognition on the national level at this point.

It’s not that any of the Republican candidates are particularly well liked. Only Huckabee has positive favorability numbers at 37/28. Romney’s at 32/33, Gingrich at 32/42, Palin at 37/52, and Brewer at 17/20. But with a majority of Americans now disapproving of Obama it’s no surprise that a large chunk of them would replace him as President if they had that choice today.

There are two things driving these strong poll numbers for the Republican candidates. The first is a lead with independents in every match up. Romney leads 48-35 with them, Gingrich is up 50-39, Huckabee has a 46-40 advantage, Palin’s up 47-42, and even Brewer has a 38-37 edge.

Actually, she's been recognized as the strongest mover in conservative politics.

When she endorses someone, their poll numbers go up. Her endorsements are the most sought after by anyone in the GOP. Doesn't sound like much of a joke to me, just ask the new Gov Nikki Haley when she gets in the statehouse. You can use that word all you want, but when she talks, people listen, and even Obama has to deal with it. She's the only one he has named other than Rush Limbaugh. Some joke.

Btw, your anti-woman animus is showing again.........

I’ve seen it. I didn’t like the non-answers at a few points.

But, the truth is none of it really bothered me. Then again, I was a supporter, but in the wide world of politics, it really doesn’t matter anymore. How else could she be tied with Obama for the lead, if it mattered to the electorate?

I don’t think her “I was peeved at the implied insult to my intelligence” answer has really been given the play that it deserves. That could well be true, and it explains how she simply refused to play that game.

Is it any surprise that in a Liberal poll that Palin would look worse than larry , curly and moe , 3 socialists?

You people need to realize that all liberals/Marxists do is lie. I can't believe many of you believe some of the slander against Palin in the “news” media and this liberal poll.

Look at their “news”.It's all lies. global warming? lol.

Look what liberals/democrats/marxists fear , namely Palin, what they ridicule that is a clue to who is good, Palin.

The media and sadly some on our side as well for whatever reason like to call Palin a “joke” and stupid. Worse, it’s the same thing that was said about W by the left.

I’m not sure that Palin is electable YET but I believe her to be genuine, strong, intelligent and CONSERVATIVE.

A lesser woman would have been crying in a tissue on a wing-back chair in her living room if they were attacked like she has been. Further, she has endured those attacks on not only her but her DAUGHTERS with dignity and grace.

She does not waiver, she does not retreat. She stands and she fights. THAT is leadership which Obama has none of. In fact, I bet Palin could “community organize” circles around that fraud. Hell...come to think of it, she already does given the fact that she draws huge crowds and those she endorses win, mostly.

And do we really need another stuck on himself, serial book writer, establishment intelligentsia, global warming cultist who's McCainesque bi partisanship with Pelosi makes even McCain look sane? Ok, maybe not the last part. But you get the gist.

Or maybe you don't.

And any freeper relying on polls, first of all, needs to wake up. And that's for every GOPer in this 'survey' (yes, even Sarah).

Polls are meaningless, period.

PS: Damn, Newt sounds like Obama!

PSS: You're also a closet Mittbot.

I think you’re right. That makes a lot more sense given the author’s other comment that the news was “uniformly bad” for Obama.

There’s nothing like a primary to decide who is best to run as our candidate. I have confidence that each potential candidate will show themselves as they really are. There will be party politics played as usual. The Republican Party will try to lead the Tea Party groups toward their candidate but will be surprised to find that there is little respect for the party organization among Tea Party people.

I hope there is enough of a challenge that candidates will have to state their positions on more than just beating Obama. Most of the candidates have been on both sides of almost every issue and this year, YouTube is our friend. It remembers all of those wafflings and panderings and will expose the violators.

The arguments that Palin is not electable because she is dumb, uneducated, ill-informed, in other words a stupid woman, is being shown as a lie as each week goes by and she succeeds at yet another endeavor. The stupid woman argument is also a dangerous one that will enflame women voters as they see it as a disparagement to their gender, an assumption that a married woman, a mother can’t know anything about leadership, running a government, and politics. Tell that to Maggie Thatcher.

He may have a problem getting the GOP nomination. But consider the following: Newt can produce a birth certificate, there are no pictures of Newt smoking a joint, he did not confess in a book to cocaine use, he has no close friendships or history with rich muslims, radical preachers and race thugs, Newt’s history is an open book. I bet we can see transcripts and find college friends who know him. All of that would seem to make a divorce and remarriage small potatoes.

I am not really a Newt fan after all of that. But compared to a communist who is incompetent he should compete well.

We battle not with flesh and blood. Either God will take a hand in this election, or Allah will remain in the white house, and we will get what we have earned.

We need to look at Christie, McConnell or Jindahl. These are guys who have done something in an executive position to help their states weather tough times.

Paul Ryan would make a great Vice President or Secretary of the Treasury.

Rockstar!

It’s a metaphor. It was used on Obama. He got elected.

She may be a Rockstar, but she’s our Rockstar.

As for Palin being a joke, that’s arm waving. All politians are joked about and the good ones are quick to turn it around on their opponent (like Reagan on age) or use humor in a self depricating way to gain sympathy.
