It'd be an understatement to say that this has been a terrible week for Apple, and we haven't even reached the halfway point. On Monday, Consumer Reports dealt a devastating blow to the iPhone 4 when it declined to recommend the device to consumers due to the antenna reception problem.

The Apple cultists have just issued a fatwa on Consumer Reports.
“Apple could initiate world peace, and it wouldn’t ‘stop the bleeding’.”
I thought they did that last year?
Maybe Apple rushed the iPhone4 into distribution before thoroughly debugging it.
Apple is now mimicking Microsoft?
No, but luckily for Apple, the real problem is much easier to fix than to initiate world peace. All they've got to do is admit they made a mistake.
Of course, for Apple, admitting mistakes can be hard. But clearly, that's what they've got to do.
I'll bet they've already fixed the technical problem, and are just working out how to roll it out.
Believing a comsumer report about anything technical is akin to believing the UN global warming commission on anything.
CNN might try to look up readily available observations on the new IPHONE from some folks who actually know RF (that’s radio frequency for you libs out there).
Got my iPhone4 yesterday. What a masterfully crafted phone.
Reception is great. I’ve tried as hard as I can to recreate the MASSIVE PROBLEM with the phone. Couldn’t. In fact the reception may be slightly better on this phone.
It sure pains me to be stuck with this incredible device. /s
Folks, don’t buy into this bull ——. Apple has a winner on it’s hands, and there are back orders of several weeks in some parts of the nation to get one of the units. These things are flying of the shelves.
Their owners are thrilled to have them.
Jealousy is a strange bed partner.
Just a couple of weeks ago, the tech gurus were saying out that Apple just passed Microsoft because of their success in the hand-held computer end of things. MS has certainly been weak on the i-pad/i-phone end of things.
This is an up and down business, I think.
Haven’t seen one. Don’t want one. But,,, the instructions one my ancient, dirt simple, cell phone says to not touch the aerial. Would simply putting a piece of Scotch Tape over the integrated aerial solve the “touch problem?”
Bleeding? Judging by the spirited defense of the iPhone 4 from the Podpeople, Apple has already sold enough phones guarantee their profits for the year. Besides, I’m sure Steve Jobs could just conduct a healing service to fix all the iPhones’ problems.
>> Make the bumpers free
That just seems like such a no-brainer to me, I can’t imagine why Apple hasn’t already done it.
Although that piece of rubber prolly costs about a nickel in China and sells for $29 retail — I can see some of the cult’s accountants throwing a hissy fit over giving up a profit margin like that...
They tested the phone in a cold room. Signal strength drops almost 20dB when you short the antenna with your fingers.
...so that’s what happened to Bobby Hill...(3rd from right)
No aerial on the Iphone. Its integrated into the unit. Funny you mention tape, because one of the fixes to the reception drop outs is duct tape over the antenna end of the phone, LOL way to go Jobs.
;^) good one. So the cult of Apple meets the cult of Not-Apple. I don’t really care what phone folks choose. I doubt you do either. It just rubs me wrong to see scare tactics used to try to destroy a thriving business.
This is a good cutting edge phone, the type of thing we should be developing, and yet folks attack like a bunch of wolverines that haven’t eaten in weeks.
Go figure...
