BELFAST, Northern Ireland (AP) Northern Ireland leaders condemned Irish nationalist rioters Tuesday who wounded 82 police officers during two nights of street clashes sparked by the province's annual parades by the British Protestant majority.

Most likely they are Catholic In Name Only. Most of the IRA are Atheist Communists.
Not to mention the deliberate murders of catholic and protestant Irish soldiers who fought in ww’s 1 and 2.
“No. Then again there was no Protestant English invasion of France, no Protestant occupation, no Protestant marches, etc.”
But why? I mean if England invaded Ireland primarily because it was Catholic why did they only invade France at a time in their history when both were Catholic?
“That is largely irrelevant to the present situation. The Dublin pale is not Belfast.”
It is the *foundation* of the relationship between England and Ireland. You want to ignore it because it does not support the point that this is about Evil English Prots wanting to eliminate Irish Catholics.
Everything since 1100 is a series of re-invasions by England into Ireland and it did not stop until they won over the whole island hundreds of years ago. Just because England moved away from Catholicism during the middle of that conflict does not change the reason for the conflict. This started when the Vatican gave england the go ahead 900 years ago.
Should England leave? yes
Should they have ever come? no
Did they come because Ireland was full of Catholics? no
England has warred with people of all faiths throughout her history Ireland had the unfortunate luck of sitting next door to England, nothing more.
Yes, and the Indians killed many homesteading women and children as well.
You’re right!
Exactly but militant Protestants like those here overlook minor details like that. Or things like the potato famine where Britian could’ve stopped the starvation of over a million Irish many of whom were children but didn’t because they wanted the land. Things like this are not forgotten in a family.
Please stop with the 400 years BS. You’ve been shown history but still fall back to your silly talking points.
“But Osama bin Laden specifically said women and children were fair game. That isnt what the IRA ever said as far as I know.”
Right so its fair game to bomb establishments with a lot of women and children just not the women and children themselves...
“The IRA bombers were doubtless thugs, but they were boy scouts compared to any Islamist terrorist group.”
A mother who lost her kid in a shopping center bombing can no doubt be consoled by the fact they were not killed while in school.
If they were raising money now I’d be giving it still today. I was child then but still remember the stories of British brutality in the Catholic neighborhoods. You should know a little more history than the talking points you keep repeating because it makes you look silly.
1-—The Catholic Irish(Gaels/Celts) themselves were immigrants and invaders, stealers of ancient land who had invaded Ireland and annihilated the original population.
2-—Some old notes on Ireland I have that may be of interest:
a-—’Historian Brendan O’ Buachalla has stated that in the 17th and 18th centuries, there was extensive intermingling and intermarriage between the new Scots settlers and the ‘native’ Irish,so that by the 19th century, there existed in Ulster several population groups, apart from many individuals scattered here, partly of Irish descent, partly of Scottish descent and Irish in language and belonged to one of the Protestant faiths’
Ian Adamson ‘The Identity of Ulster’ (1982) page 15
b—’The fact that many native Irish became Protestants is well illustrated for example by the Hearth Money Rolls for the Presbyterian parishes of Stranorlar and Leck in Donegal for the year 1665,as well as the by the presence of old Cruthinic names such as Rooney,Lowry,MacCartan and MacGuinness in the records of the Episcopalian Diocese of Dromore in South and West Down.Representatives of other well-known Gaelic families abound.Murphys,Maguires,Kellys,Lennons,Reillys,Doghertys and many others are quite numerous.Historian Brendan Adamas has shown that quote “a large part of the native Irish became absorbed in areas such as the North Down into the various Protestant faiths” ‘
Adamson The Ulster People(1991) page 60
c—’Neither must it be assumed that all the Scottish emigrants to Ulster in the Plantation were Protestant. For some were Scottish and English Catholics. Thus a letter from the Bishop of Derry to the Lord Earl of Abercorn in 1692 says that “Sir George Hamilton since he got part of the Popery there, has brought over priests and Jesuits from Scotland”.Historian A Perceval-Maxwell has shown that within just a generation one of the most sucessful parts of the ‘Protestant’ Plantation was in fact led by Roman Catholics’
Adamson(1991)—page 60
‘There was much intermarriage, with or without the benefit of the clergy than convential history makes allowance for. Many planters became Catholic and many natives became Protestant.
It is a gross and emotional oversimplification to see the Ulster Plantation in terms of ruthless Protestants seizing land and chasing the Catholics into the bogs and the hills.
In fact, history and recent archaeology shows us that in fact a very substantial proportion of the original population was not disturbed at all’
ATQ Stewart: ‘The Narrow Ground-Studies of Ulster History’(1986)
Firstly, the British (English, Scots, Welsh) have been in Ireland since 1607. The English since the 12th C. So why should they leave?.
Secondly, you DO realise that the native Irish are nothing of the sort?. The Gaels/Celts invaded Ireland themselves and annihilated the original inhabitants. So the Irish Republicans/Nationalists who scream for the British to leave are themselves merely the descendants of brutal invaders and subjugators...
Thirdly, well leave Ireland when you give America back to the Indian. Fair enough?.
BTW, are you real Irish Catholic or yet another nth gen. Irish-American who thinks having a relative born in Cork in 1840 makes you as Irish as the people who are born and bred there?....

Can you think of an IRA bombing that had many women and children victims? There might be one, but I can’t think of any off the top of my head.
“A mother who lost her kid in a shopping center bombing can no doubt be consoled by the fact they were not killed while in school.”
And how often did that ever happen? Then compare that number to what Islamists have done. The IRA come off looking like boy scouts as I said.
Let me get this straight.....you think there are no Protestant marches in Scotland?.
Dear me, have you ever been here?. I suggest you do, and in the W of Scotland in the summer, youll see plenty of them!.
And a fair few Catholic or Irish Republican marches too.
Still pissed at the Apaches, the Comanches, the Germans?
Refuse to buy a Japanese car over a seventy years passed conflict?
Kneecapped a Vietnamese lately?
There are times to prepare for the next war, to fight a current war or two, and times to get over wars from a past we can only read about and interpret through today's lens.
By making itself ungovernable, Northern Ireland only makes itself more miserable.
PS: If I remember my epic cattle raids correctly, Ulster has always been set apart from the south.
You DO realise that the Irish Famine killed both Catholic and Protestant?.
Britain bought millions of tons of corn during the Famine and sent it to Ireland.
British culpability on the Famine is one of incompetence, of error, NOT of deliberate callousness.
So the British buying and sending of food is sidelined by the myth, as it dosent fit in with the big bad callous British stereotype.
WHat you posted was irrelevant. It in no way changes or ever remotely affects what I said.
Firstly, the IRA did not always warn of its bombs.
Secondly, the remark that the IRA didnt target women and children is an utter nonsense. I seriously dont know where you are getting your ‘history’ from.
‘None of that can be said of the Scots who came to the North in the 16th and 17th centuries.’
Not true. Read my earlier reply to you.
I think both sides could stand to learn some restraint. There is no need for these provocative marches, and there is no need for violent retaliation.

I did not say that. I suggest you re-read the passage and get things right the second time around.
“Dear me, have you ever been here?. I suggest you do, and in the W of Scotland in the summer, youll see plenty of them!.”
Again, I suggest you learn to read.
“And a fair few Catholic or Irish Republican marches too.”
Through Protestant neighborhoods in a Protestant land occupied by a people viewed as foreigners or oppressors celebrating a victory over Protestants? No. It never happened.
