I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits, either now or in the future, Barack Obama swore to us during the health care debate. Some 2.5 trillion dimes later, its clear the president had no idea what he was talking about.
The latest numbers from the Congressional Budget Office project that Obamacare will drive up deficits by $250 billion in the first 10 years. Then again, the CBO also predicted that the original Medicare program would only cost $12 billion by 1990. Its actual price tag was $110 billion.
Missed it by that much.
Republican or Democrat, liberal or conservative, it doesnt seem to matter. People in politics are almost always lousy at math.
You know about Obamas $787 billion stimulus plan? The one the White House promised would keep unemployment below 8 percent? Todays rate is 9.5 percent - and that number is artificially low because people whove simply given up hope and stopped looking for work arent counted.
The New York Times [NYT] reported last week that real unemployment for 18 to 29-year-olds is 37 percent - a rate reminiscent of the 1930s.
What you probably dont know is that Obama and the Democrats actually passed another multi-billion dollar stimulus last year and are trying to push through a third one now. In fact, according to Stephen Spruiell in National Review magazine, if you go back to late 2008, weve spent $1.085 trillion on stimulus already - more than weve spent on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan combined.
Every new borrow-and-spend stimulus dollar dump came with a politicians promise that it would create jobs. And yet the jobless rate has hardly budged.
Youd think that...

We are a sick nation right now, things have to change.
In order to “fundamentally change the USA” the great middle class must be brought to their knees. They were the ones who fought and died to create this great country that the progressives despise so much.
The Obamaloon couldn’t do third grade math.
Plus, he lies like a rug.
And he’s a sleezebag.
Other than that, he’s completely believable.
Some 25 trillion dimes later,

I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits, either now or in the future.
Obama promised America during the contentious healthcare debate. Some 2.5 trillion dimes later, its clear he had no idea what he was talking about.
“If BO is/was held accountable for his B.S. he would NOT be Prez today.”
If the Mediacrats were held accountable for his B.S. he would NOT be Prez today.
There, fixed it.
Is the Boston Herald like the Chic Trib - often good stories/opinion like this?
” I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits, either now or in the future. “
No dimes....just trillions of dollars.
Neither “O” nor any of that troupe of circus freaks he dragged into the WH with is is vetted or vettable(sp???)
How they can look at one another without a shudder (or without laughing) is beyond me!
Ghetto economics.
Wow, if the comments below the orig. article are an indicator of how Obama is now viewed by the public, (and in a Boston paper no less) he may fall below Jimmy Carter as Worst President Ever!
Read his quote carefully...he kept his word. “I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits, either now or in the future.” He did not add ONE dime, he added tens of trillions of dimes to the deficit.
He’s another “word parser” like Clinton.
