What is the race of each of the cops?
This is tragic, prayers for Scott’s family. Bad cops, plan and simple. Here in Galveston county (I own a bar so I see alot), I have seen deputies make many arrests. Some of those arrests involved arresting a breaking and entering suspect. I’ve never seen them pull their weapon. In fact I am sometimes amazed by the restraint they use in making arrests. My point is these cops were/are poorly trained or perhaps not fit to be cops in the first place. Not all cops are like these, some are really very good at their job. NYC cops were pretty good too, back in the 70’s, probably still are.
Shooting update ping!
Good, the murderers names are out. May they never find peace.
This story is very disturbing.
And it is the civilian eyewitnesses whose stories have the ring of truth, in my opinion.
This fine young man was murdered, I believe.
I anxiously await further facts, including the availability of the store video tape.
I still want to see the Costco video tapes of him supposedly trashing the store.

Authorities said a Costco employee called 911 to report a man acting erratically in the store, damaging merchandise and carrying a pistol in his waistband. An officer approached the man, identified as Scott, then noticed the pistol and gave him verbal commands to lay on the ground, police said.
After Scott pointed the pistol at an officer, the officers fired at him, striking him multiple times, police said. He died at University Medical Center a short time later.

Doesn't seem to jive with any other reports I've seen...
If I ever decide that I need to carry a concealed weapon, I will also be wearing a bullet proof vest. One without the other seems somewhat illogical, to me anyway.
some cops behave like gang members with a license to kill.
“Several witnesses at the scene say that Erik Scott never acted confrontational or touched a weapon when he was shot.”
This is common for the LVMPD, trust me.
First of all, in a store, don't start opening up merchandise and sticking it in a bag. That makes all sorts of things go through clerks head, most of them saying you are a shoplifter. Granted, a bit dim of a shoplifter. If you haven't bought the item, taking it apart or stuffing things into it is frowned on by most store owners.
Second, when you care concealed, don't flash the gun. Most people will freak out if they see someone with a gun a Costco or Walmart. Concealed means concealed. Carrying in a way that someone is likely to notice is a great way to meet cops, who will be inclined to treat you as an active shooter. Which means in this day and age they will kill you. Cops in general respond to armed non cops the same way they do to armed gang bangers. In other words, they do not view you as a citizen, but as a threat. There are only two sides for most cops, and if you are not a cop yourself you do not want anything to do with them in a professional manner.
Third, if you are a clerk, and a guy is obviously armed but says he is a CCW permit holder, you probably don't need to call the cops. Very few crimes are committed by licensed CCW permit holders. If you do call the cops, mention that the guy said he is a permit holder. Might just save his life.
And last and most important, if you have two rookie cops trying to apprehend a man, make sure you don't let them do the talking. The contradictory commands cost this man his life. More than likely the first shot was by a rookie, who had no conscience decision to fire. Stress can cause muscle contractions, and if you don't train for it, accidental discharge of a gun. Like the 7 year old kid killed in Detroit. Most cops don't get that training, even SWAT team members.
bttt
This is disgraceful! If this was a black man there would be riots, a call for a boycott of Costco and God knows what else!
