Janice Wells called the Richland Police Department when she feared a prowler was outside her clapboard house in the rural west Georgia town.
The third-grade teacher had phoned for help. But within minutes of an officer coming to her backdoor, she was screaming in pain and begging not to be shocked again with a Taser. With each scream and cry, the officer threatened her with more shocks.

"I did what I had to do to take control of the situation," Smith told the AJC about his decision to repeatedly discharge his Taser.
Yet his former boss, Lumpkin Police Chief Steven Ogle, was shocked when he saw the video.
"I couldnt believe it, Ogle said. You dont use it [a Taser] for punitive reasons, to prod someone. It was evident it was an improper use of force. He was an excellent officer other than that incident."
Smith resigned just as Ogle started the process to fire him, the chief said. Smith now works for the Chattahoochee County Sheriff's office.
This guy should never ever be in any law enforcement job again, and based on what is written here, should be in jail, for assault!
I disagree wholeheartily with your assessment of cops. These are the bad apples we read about.
If police believed the woman needed to be detained as a material witness, oughtn’t that require a warrant from a court short of an emergency where the witness would be at risk?
I still don’t see your point. Is it that the police should never be called on for any reason? Or are there some things that you can call the police for and others that you shouldn’t? I’m guessing you are clueless and just wanted to make a vapid remark.
I think they were more concerned about the uppity disobedience of a lessor human being. These guys all need to study the constitution and study community policing. The war on terror training has them thinking they are soldiers are we are captives and insurgents.
GOOD!I have seen cops do this all my life and whoever is teaching them needs to stop. It’s the WRONG approach and it ends up with innocent people dying/harmed for NOTHING.
Instead of asking for the woman's info and about the prowler, the cop started ASSUMING domestic violence and inappropriately questioned her.
What it escalated to is totally bizarre and horrible. Then the 2d cop jumped in and started tazering before he even knew what happened.
So--these brave public servants became the aggressors.
No doubt about it--if this story is true, I would sue their butts. The one who quit and now works for another force will be bullying again--guaranteed.

The cops sound like idiots and so does the woman. Why call the police for help and then refuse to cooperate with them? Morons!
I'll respond to you when you can actually put a coherent sentence together.
You forget that on this topic that comment was standard bootlicker fare.
Why should she help them in the false arrest of her friend? They've gone halfcocked and assumed a domsestic violence situatiuon. Because he's an idiot, the cop didn't get her friend's name. If she gives the name, before cooler heads have a chance to prevail, the cop is likely to go and try to "collar the perp". That is highly likely to go pearshaped.
If a friend of mine came to help me when I was scared of a prowler, and then the cops started talking “domestic violence” without ANY cause, I’d probably resist getting my kind friend involved further, as well.
You post is a responce. And you obviously know my point. And you have nothing to refute it, thus your inane quip about not responding.
May your chains rest lightly upon your wrists.
According to Robinson, Wells and the police reports, the officer only asked Robinson how long he had known Wells, the status of their relationship and where he lived. Murphy asked nothing more, not even Robinson's name.
Why didn't he ask him his name??
They just asked who he was. The next step is to say “no, I have no problem with him. He was here to help me.” That is about as far as it would go as they couldn’t arrest or hold him if it was obvious that everyone’s testimony would contradict them later.
See post #36.
Lesson 1. Do not ever call cops for help. They no longer serve or protect. Well. You. They sure as he’ll serve themselves and protect their corrupt system and each other. But I don’t think that was the original intent of the slogan.
Lesson 2. If you are ever involved with the police. Behave in a docile and subserviant status. Never look them in the eye. Never question them. And never exercise any of your God given rights or even discuss said rights. You will only anger them and they will then become violent, perhaps even kill you.
I am serious. This is not a parody. I wish it were. Avoid cops under all situations. If you ever ever need any outside assistance and believe cops will become involved, call an ambulence. Claim chest pains. Difficulty breathing. Anything. Ride it to the hospital. Stay the night. Pay the bill. And understand you may have saved your own life.
Last lesson. If at all possible never speak to a cop. Ever. Remain silent. Do not tell them what you are doing. Just do it. Say absolutely nothing. Make them do whatever they do with absolutely no input from you. Nothing you can say will ever help you. Ever.
She called the police because there was a threat from someone. She stopped cooperating as soon as she realized that responding officers aren't interested in anything she says - and in fact they already "figured out" what the crime ought to be and who did it. And then they basically arrested her for resisting arrest :-(
Years ago my husband had a psychotic break because his meds were off and I called the cops to help me get him to the hospital.
He ended up in jail and we ended up getting investigated by Children and Families. And he ended up with severe problems from their careless treatment. I would have loved to have sued them.
I will never call the cops again unless I absolutely have to. I had to hire an attorney to protect myself against the idiots that thought they were protecting me.
