Vice President Joe Biden held up airplane traffic for hours on Friday night at Los Angeles International Airport after an appearance on Jay Leno s Tonight Show, leaving restless passengers fuming.
A spokesman for the vice president said he was unaware of the FAA temporary flight restriction that stopped flights coming in, and delayed those going out.
I know we didnt ask for anything, Bidens spokesman James Carney told TheWrap. There was no sign of any stoppage. And there shouldnt have been one.
Oh, but there was. Passengers were stuck for anywhere from 45 minutes to four hours as a result (including this writer), leaving many of them fuming. In one LAX terminal, flights on Horizon, Alaska and Virgin Air had three-hour delays.
I sincerely hope that the vice president was oblivious to the number of lives he inconvenienced by deciding to land at LAX and his attempted humor on the Tonight Show, said Will Roos, the owner of an environmental company GreenUp who was on his way back from a business trip in Sun Valley.
He added: Just on our small propeller plane it resulted in half the passengers missing their flight, everyone missing their checked luggage, and more than four hours of delay for those lucky enough to make it on the plane."

Question: how come the Vice President didn’t use Edwards AFB or the former March AFB to land the VC-32A and then helicopter into Los Angeles? I do know that many times when Air Force One visits the San Francisco Bay Area they often use Moffett Federal Airfield in Mountain View, CA mostly because 1) it has a long enough runway and 2) it won’t interfere with operations at San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose International Airports.
The sad fact is, Biden was chosen to give the Administration foreign policy gravitas. I am not joking. That is what all the media etc reported way back when.
Crap that what happen, I had a connecting flight at LAX Fri at 5:30 pm...we were held up about 30 min
They all know, and they don’t care, they just send assistants out there to calm the great unwashed when they are thrown asunder. When the Princess Pelosi, Viceroy Reid, Royal Bitem VP and the Great and Powerful Wizzard of BOZ all deem to travel amongst the masses we must genuflect.
A good friend of the family was caught in this shut down and missed a flight to Australia. As a result he had to stay over night in LA and take the next flight out, which was not until the next day. Not a happy camper.
That too!
I thought it was a lame answer by VP Bite-Me ... he inconvenienced a lot of people who will remember his party this November ...I’ve got my over seas mail-in ballot request already in ....
He wanted to wide in his wong motewcade thwough the stweets of LA!!!! Makes him fweel wike a stwar!
Oh, I didn’t know Bwarny Fwrank was with him.

Ah, the little people are just a bunch of smart a$$es anyway.
One of the staples of many commercials and TV shows nowadays is the "stupid white male" character who gets shown up by the hero - a woman, minority, or homosexual.
Joe Biden is that character, and he is a perfect fit for the part.
Of course they do know all about the flight restrictions and the havoc on citizens they cause. They just don’t give a damn, because damn it, OBAMA WON.
The infamous “4 hour haircut”. Bent Willy went back for 2nds, 3rds, and 4ths! Were oysters part of the in-flight meal? Was there a cigar bar? “And now, on public saxophone, Bill Clinton!” — Jimi Hendrix (paraphrase)
Hey Shmoe! Next time land at Edwards AFB. It’s in the Mojave Desert. Then, stay THERE!
All politicians, appointees and their staff must travel by regularly scheduled commercial traffic with the exception of the president, who may travel by his own chartered craft. I know, I know, I shouldn't make an exception, but I honestly think the Secret Service needs a break every once in a while, and having their own plane will make them happy.
All politicians, appointees and their staff must travel on the ground in their own private vehicles. If away from Washington or their home state, they may rent vehicles at their own expense. The president can keep the armored limo.
No politician, appointee or staff member to either may receive any retirement benefits beyond the same social security benefits that the average worker receives. They must make the same contributions as anyone else, and the federal government can waive paying the matching amount, as it seems silly to pay itself.
All politicians, appointees and their staff may continue to receive health care at any federally funded hospital, clinic or doctor's office up until they leave office; they may qualify for Medicare upon reaching the appropriate retirement age, and may buy their own private insurance.
No politician, appointee or staff member may receive unemployment benefits. Travel expenses shall be limited to exactly what the IRS permits in the way of deductions for all Americans, and politicians may only receive a per diem to stay away from Washington DC. (Yeah, I know, but it's far cheaper to pay them to stay away from DC than it is for them to continue blowing billions upon billions on pork projects.)
Every elected official and political appointee will be limited to a budget not to exceed budgets that were in place in the year 2000. That number shall be changed if crap on trade legislation is passed, going the same distance backwards as they set emissions standards.
Furniture budgets for offices of politicians, appointees and staff shall be no more than $5,000 per year. States are welcome and encouraged to use private companies in their state to outfit congressional offices to reflect the style and flavor of home at their own expense. Anyone who complains about it shall be handed an Ikea catalog with prices highlighted for their convenience along with a 99 cent calculator to keep track of expenses. Campaigns can pay for their own computers.
that tells you how much bidin DOESN’T KNOW!
UGH, good point!!!!
Not all the people on those planes voted for obama nor did all of them live in california.
