Obama awards $1.45 billion loan guarantee to company promising 85 jobs.
The Daily Caller ^ | 07/11/2010 | staff

During his weekly address to the nation over the Fourth of July weekend, President Obama announced that the Department of Energy was awarding $2 billion in loan guarantees to two energy companies — Abengoa Solar and Abound Solar Manufacturing.

The plan, Obama said, is for the companies to use the money to construct solar plants and panels to power thousands of homes — and create 5,000 jobs in the process. Only about 1,600 of those jobs are slated to be permanent, though, meaning that the total cost to the taxpayer for each permanent job would exceed $1 million.

But over the past week, observers have questioned whether even that high figure accurately represents the total cost of the president’s plan.

Loan guarantees, unlike outright grants, are essentially promises to pay for the debt obligation of a borrower. Because they typically do not appear in the federal budget until after the government has to pay for them, and because they often attract companies with limited assets, critics charge that the guarantees obscure risks to the taxpayer and divert funds that could have been used more efficiently..........

I think even Willie Green would choke on this type of "investment".

Maybe.

Abengoa Solar == Spanish. Gets the lion’s share of the $$.

Abound Solar....Soros investment. Kanjorski nephew pay off. First Solar competitor. Will basically use automated manufacture & fabrication.

" It’s all  I, I, I with this president. The repeated use of the first person singular pronoun illustrates what the economist Friedrich Hayek called “fatal conceit” or “the pretense of knowledge.” If no one in the private sector is beating a path to the door of either one of these small and unheralded companies—to buy their products or invest in their technologies—what makes Obama and the Department of Energy so sure it’s wise to put $2 billion of the taxpayers’ money at risk on their behalf? And if President Obama has gone on a VIP tour of one or two solar panel or wind turbine factories, does that constitute real knowledge—or simply “the pretense of knowledge”? "

But, according to Keynesian “math”, those 85 people are going to pump over $2.1 billion into the economy!

Naw... He’d simply bemoan the fact that these ‘guarantees’ weren’t offered to some pie in the sky transit project.

WHO AM I?

I was born in one country, raised in another.

My father was born in another country.

I was not his only child.

He fathered several children with numerous women.

I became very close to my mother, as my father showed no interest in me.

My mother died at an early age from cancer.

Although my father deserted me and my mother raised me, I later wrote a book idolizing my father not my mother. Later in life, questions arose over my real name.

My birth records were sketchy.

No one was able to produce a legitimate, reliable birth certificate.

I grew up practicing one faith but converted to Christianity, as it was widely accepted in my new
country, but I practiced non-traditional beliefs and didn’t follow Christianity, except in the public eye under scrutiny.

I worked and lived among lower-class people as a young adult, disguising myself as someone who
really cared about them.

That was before I decided it was time to get serious about my life and I embarked on a new career.

I wrote a book about my struggles growing up. It was clear to those who read my memoirs, that I had difficulties accepting that my father abandoned me as a child.

I became active in local politics in my 30’s then, with help behind the scenes, I literally burst onto the scene as a candidate for national office in my 40s. They said I had a golden tongue and could talk anyone into anything.

I had a virtually non-existent resume, little work history, and no experience in leading a single
organization. Yet I was a powerful speaker and citizens were drawn to me, as though I were a magnet and they were small roofing tacks. I drew incredibly large crowds during my public appearances.

This bolstered my ego. At first, my political campaign focused on my country’s foreign policy...

I was very critical of my country in the last war, and seized every opportunity to bash my country.

But what launched my rise to national prominence were my views on the country’s economy.

I pretended to have a really good plan on how we could do better, and every poor person would be fed and housed for free. I knew which group was responsible for getting us into this mess.

It was the free market, banks and corporations. I decided to start making citizens hate them and, if they became envious of others who did well, the plan was clinched tight.

I called mine “A People’s Campaign”. That sounded good to all people.

I was the surprise candidate because I emerged from outside the traditional path of politics and was
able to gain widespread popular support.

I knew that, if I merely offered the people ‘hope’, together we could change our country and the world.

So, I started to make my speeches sound like they were on behalf of the downtrodden, poor, ignorant to include “persecuted minorities”.

My true views were not widely known and I kept them unknown, until after I became my nation’s leader.

I had to carefully guard reality, as anybody could have easily found out what I really believed, if they had simply read my writings and examined those people I associated with.

I’m glad they didn’t.

Then I became the most powerful man in the world. And the world learned the truth.

Who am I?

It doesn’t matter if it costs a billion dollars per job. They’re “green jobs”. As in, lots of green to create, one light bulb running on sun.

Don’t worry. We won’t actually have to pay any of this money unless the companies become unable to pay their debts. Of course, they will probably then go belly-up and have to fire ALL of their employees. In that case, we will be paying $2 billion dollars at the same time that unemployment is increasing.

We won’t actually have to pay any of this money unless the companies become unable to pay their debts.

Getting someone else to pay the debt appears to be a standard part of the scam.

Traditional coal, gas, and nuclear fired energy producers have to pay a penalty for down time. Here in Michigan, wind farm developers not only want to get a pass on the penalty, they want the traditional energy producers to contribute to a fund to pay for when the wind doesn't blow.

Abound is moving into an uncompleted and bankrupt Getrag/Chrysler transmission plant near me here in central IN.

Supposedly 850+ new jobs starting 2013

http://kokomotribune.com/local/x383292889/Solar-company-coming-to-empty-Getrag-facility

Tipton — The vacant Getrag Transmission plant on U.S. 31 in Tipton County has a new tenant that will bring 850 jobs to the region by 2013.

President Barack Obama announced Saturday that Colorado-based Abound Solar was given a $400 million loan guarantee from the Department of Energy to expand its operations in Longmont, Colo., and to purchase the Getrag building.

During his weekly radio address, Obama announced $1.85 billion in loan guarantees to two companies. The first went to Abengoa Solar, which will receive $1.45 billion to build a solar plant in Arizona.

“The second company is Abound Solar Manufacturing, which will manufacture advanced solar panels at two new plants, creating more than 2,000 construction jobs and 1,500 permanent jobs,” Obama said. “A Colorado plant is already under way, and an Indiana plant will be built in what’s now an empty Chrysler [Getrag] factory. When fully operational, these plants will produce millions of state-of-the-art solar panels each year.”

Abound Solar is expected to provide up to 1,200 jobs when the plant is in full operation. The company makes state-of-the-art solar panels, which are sold for industrial and commercial applications with a large market in Europe.

To all

I am sorry but this list is full in inaccuracies!
For example
“..........
I grew up practicing one faith but converted to Christianity, as it was widely accepted in my new
country, but I practiced nontraditional beliefs and didn’t follow Christianity, except in the public eye under scrutiny.
............”

Someone please tell me what faith Hitler practiced as a child other then Catholicism? And please don't claim that being Catholic is not being a Christian!
Also the notion that Hitler was Jewish is simply that! A notion ! It's Allied WW II propaganda and also comes from a unsupported statement from a Nazi about to do a rope dance at Spandau. Don't you think he was motivated to ingratiate himself with the Allied Powers? Simon Wiesenthal, WWII historians, Hitler biographers have researched this and long ago debunked !

Zero is bad bad, but using “made up history” to support an argument against Zero & his ilk defeats the goal ! It enhances Zero in the eyes of “uninformed”.
