Kellogg is recalling as many as 28 million boxes of cereal because a chemical is leaching from the food packaging into the cereal. The Food and Drug Administration states the reason for the recall as "uncharacteristic off-flavor and smell coming from the liner in the package." Other sources call it a wax-like substance, and parents are being warned that it may cause diarrhea or vomiting, particularly in sensitive children (the recalled cereals Apple Jacks, Corn Pops, Fruit Loops and Honey Smacks are sugary staples of the Kellogg line, marketed with cartoon characters primarily at children).

China?
Remember when Corn Pops used to be called Sugar Pops? I love Fruit Loops for evening snack. Anyway, we won’t have to worry about these food recalls for much longer, as I predict that soon the federal government will take over the packaged food industry, and they will take care of everything for us.
But if that happens, the trial lawyer lobby wont be able to file class action suits on your behalf because you had to return a box of bad cereal.

Again, only products with the letters “KN” following the Better If Used Before Date are included in the recall.
Is this new or did somebody finally call them on it?
My thought exactly
On June 25, Kellogg issued a voluntary recall of select packages of Kelloggs® Corn Pops®, Honey Smacks®, Froot Loops® and Apple Jacks® cereals.
Fifteen years ago, I appeared as an expert witness in a Kellogg’s lawsuit involving Eggo waffles. The Kellogg’s people had specified inferior sensors in an ammonia refrigeration system. The system failed and several million dollars worth of Eggo waffles were drenched with ammonia. Kellogg’s was suing the sensor maker to recoop losses from opening the boxes and putting the waffles in new containers. Their concern was for the carton not the waffle, which they stated that the cooking would drive off any residual ammonia. Kellogg’s lost the case and had to eat the repackaging costs.
I’ve never used Kellogg’s products since. They don’t care what they sell except that it’s pretty.
What does that have to do with the recall? Sounds like someone is on a crusade. Apart of the recall, if parents want or don't want their children to eat these cereals, that is up to them.
I’ve always made my cereal purchases based on the notion that there was more nutrition in the cereal box than in the contents.
Thanks for the headsup.
Not meaning to go green, but why do they have two packages for the product - the bag inside the box. There’s no need and the consumer has to pay for the packaging. Eliminate one or the other and lower the price. Plus less packaging equals less to go wrong.
Praise be to God that Cocoa Puffs are from General Mills.
Just a bag: Crushed cereal
Just a box: Stale cereal
Crush-proof, air-tight container: More expensive than a box and bag, takes up more room in a landfill.
Malt-O-Meal has made a success of just bags.
Your welcome!
You don’t want to eat the box in this case...
Give you a date with the toilet...LOL...
