President Barack Obama says America's borders are "just too vast" for the immigration problem to be solved with fences and border patrols alone.
He said that a comprehensive solution is needed, instead, urging one that holds everyone accountable, from illegal immigrants to the businesses that hire them.
Obama said the reality is, Republican support is needed to arrive at such a solution. Right now, GOP support is not forthcoming in an election year.
In his first major speech on immigration at president, Obama also spoke to the need to reform the system of legal immigration. That's a welcome message to advocates who contend too much emphasis has been placed on enforcing laws against illegal immigrants even as eligible citizenship applicants languish.
Obama blamed immigration policy gridlock on "political posturing and special interest wrangling."
In the speech Obama took Republicans to task, in particular 11 GOP senators who supported recent efforts to improve the immigration system. He did not name any in particular, but told his largely supportive audience at American University that those lawmakers had succumbed to the "pressures of partisanship and election-year politics."

The Kenyan’s hero Stalin didn’t have much trouble securing the borders of the USSR with just a bunch of guards armed with Kalashnikovs, dogs, barbed wire and a few watchtowers.
A fence and about 2500 marksmen training to be snipers should do it. Each guy gets about a half mile.
We would be clueless if we believed that the Islamists who hate us have not taken advantage of the open Southern border.

and by resources, i mean... everything i need. which may include some national guard to cover my work crews from fire coming from mexico... or libtards.
i’m serious. it can be done, you just have to think in large scale (which 0bama does not, at least not in problem solving). 20 man crew working a section should be able to complete 500-1000 feet within 6 months. each crew could do 2,000-4,000 ft in 2 years.
2000 miles is 10.5m feet... which would require 5,280 teams, or about 100k people. add to that the security force and the supply lines.
make the plans open to scrutiny and improvement for 6 months. settle on a design. determine the costs. determine the number of teams. put production goals and incentives in place. and hit the go button.
it’s doable... and with high unemployment is makes sense... but whether or not the ‘leadership’ has the desire is another story all together.
(of course, this begs the question... if the fedgov cannot secure the borders, then why are you taking money, taxes, for one of the few things you’re supposed to be doing??)

Now obama tells us that we can't secure the border since our laws are unenforceable and that the border is more secure than ever.
