Obama: U.S. Borders Cannot Be Secured With Fences and Border Patrols

(CNSNews.com) - President Barack Obama said today that U.S. borders cannot be secured with fences and border patrols. “It won’t work,” he said.

Obama made the statement in a speech at American University in Washington, D.C. in which he called on Congress to enact a “comprehensive immigration reform” law that would include a “pathway for legal status” for illegal immigrants—or what critics call amnesty.

“Even as we are committed to doing what’s necessary to secure our borders, even without passage of the new law, there are those who argue that we should not move forward with any other elements of reform until we have fully sealed our borders,” said Obama. “But our borders are just too vast for us to be able to solve the problem only with fences and border patrols. It won’t work. Our borders will not be secure as long as our limited resources are devoted to not only stopping gangs and potential terrorists, but also the hundreds of thousands who attempt to cross each year simply to find work.”

Obama also contended in the speech that the borders are more secure now than they have been in the past two decades. “The southern border is more secure today than at any time in the past 20 years,” he said.

His comprehensive immigration reform plan, he said, would “demand responsibility” from illegal immigrants.

“We have to demand responsibility from people living here illegally. They must be required to admit that they broke the law. They should be required to register, pay their taxes, pay a fine, and learn English,” said Obama.

“We can create a pathway for legal status that is fair, reflective of our values, and works,” he said.

How would he know?

Nothing has been done to secure the borders!

A Mini AR15 could close the border. Or better yet, how about 10,000 National Guard? Nahhhhh....that’s too logical.

Or else what?

Wanna bet, dipwad?

Let’s get an Adult into the White House and see just how fast that border gets secured.

Never send a boy to do a man’s job. Epic fail, every time!

Winning WWII against all odds, 1 Trillion Dollars
Sending Men to the moon, 500 Billion
Not being able to secure the border with a third world stink hole, priceless.

Giving amnesty to tens of millions of illegals won’t secure the border either. The drug runners, terrorists and other ner-do-wells will continue to cross the border with impunity.

A secure social security card for all workers won’t fix things either, since Home Depot day laborers and other criminals won’t need the ID anyway.

We need a secure border and interior enforcement.

No compromise, no excuses, no amnesty.

Build the damn fence and man it with the National Guard. NOW.

I seem to remember that a couple of years ago a handful of minutemen in lawnchairs along the border stopped illegal immigration in its entirety for as long as they stayed.

And that during that time not one Mexican died of thirst abandoned in the desert by his coyote.

If you can’t be trusted to secure our border you can’t be trusted to do anything more. Its pretty basic. If O admits he can’t secure the border he needs to resign now.

Obama is getting desparate in his attempts to distract people from the economy and his handling of the oil spill.

Hmmmm, I see a trend of far too many issues that Obama can't fix and doesn't bother even trying.

If you pay them, they will come. Have employers ask for their birth certificate.

Land mines, roving dogs, and gun towers could do it. Works for prisons. ALso works for military forts.

Let’s no forget moats too. After all there was a recent article talking about how many illegals drown crossing the border. Definitely more moats. Deep ones, maybe with crocs in ‘em.

Heck, we can’t even secure the borders at JFK and our other ports of entry; people come in for a visit and just fade into the crowd. And then they get it all forgiven, like Bambi’s Auntie Zietuni. One of the things he has announced is that he wants to forgive all people who have overstayed their visas, which usually means people from Third World Muslim hell-holes.

As for the Mexican border, that one is going to be much harder until we get Mexico’s cooperation. Not all the people who come across are Mexicans (an increasing number are smuggled from all over the world, including Africa, China and the Middle East) but Mexico still makes a lot on the money its citizens send back to Mexico, and with the way things are now in Mexico, they obviously aren’t going to be in a hurry to give up that income. I have always felt that pressure could be put on Mexico by billing them for the costs that result from their citizens who are not legal immigrants here (use of hospitals, schools, etc.).

That said, I think any “plan” Obama offers is going to be insane and also I suspect that he won’t go about it legislatively but will probably impose it through administrative acts and regulatory provisions for agencies.
