When Republican Sen. Strom Thurmond died, the MSM was quick to stress his segregationist past. The New York Times ran the headline "Strom Thurmond, Foe of Integration, Dies at 100," leaving readers to imagine the South Carolinian had remained an advocate of segregation. The very first line of USA Today's story described Thurmond as "the nation's most prominent segregationist."
Strange how the MSM can suddenly become reticent about mentioning someone's segregationist past when the late politician in question is a Democrat. On Morning Joe today, Mark Halperin and Mike Barnicle used elliptical language worthy of a State Department dispatch to avoid mentioning that Byrd had been a member and leader of the Ku Klux Klan. The gushiness over a dead terrorist is going to be interesting, I think.
Sad that a man has died but at least we get some government of the people back. I’m told that he hasn’t done much in years leaving all of the work and decisions to staffers.
This seat is only valuable now to the D vs R number totals in the Senate. It will have no power of pork or important committee seats now.
I also remember Sen Byrd going on TV and attacking President Reagan. I don't remember the exact words but the constant attack on President Reagan by the Democrats was that he was unfair to minorities.
Neither are the DU`ers. It`s all crocodile tears with nary a mention of his being a Klanner. Thurmond was never a member of the Klan, yet when he passed away all libs could talk about was what a racist he was.
They are all Progressive Democrats. Some, like Rev Wright, Farrakhan and the New Black Panthers, played large roles in Obama’s career and in the last election. The Democrat Party tries to create racial hatred and uses it to its advantage.

Farrakhan hails Obama as 'hope of entire world'
Louis Farrakhan, at the annual Saviours' Day celebration in Chicago, Feb. 25, 2008: "This young man is the hope of the entire world that America will change and be made better"..."If you look at Barack Obama's audiences and look at the effect of his words, those people are being transformed."

Re: Millions More Movement rally, Oct 15, 2005:
"Mao Tse Tung, throughout his long march to conquer China, had a billion people whose lives he had to transform. Many of them were victims of opium, drugs and prostitution, like we are. But Mao Tse Tung went to the cultural community and they accepted his idea. Then, through song, dance, poetry, drama, documentaries, movies and books, the idea of Mao Tse Tung became the idea of a billion people. China became a world power on the base of culture and the artistic community. If we had a Ministry of Art and Culture in every city, [we'd] create this movement [in the U.S.], we could say to our young people, What is the idea of the Time and are you reflecting that idea in your songs, dance and music?
We need a Ministry of Trade and Commerce. Do you think that a Millions More Movement should not be involved in the development of Africa, the Caribbean and Central America? ... we need a Ministry of Trade and Commerce that can link the struggle here with Africa and the Caribbean, Central and South America.

The news media will probably mythologize Byrd’s past. He was, after all, a Democrat.

Even Fox managed to omit that fact. They said he started out poor, became a butcher ...then BAM!!!! He was elected to the house. No mention that the KKK gave him his start. Then again the Dear Reader’s career was started in a terrorist’s living room and they manage to omit that tidbit.
Democratic Senator Byrd also FILIBUSTERED the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Al Gore’s dad also did his best to thwart the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Is it any wonder that the liberals in public schools have to rewrite history!
Too True. The only think I might add is that if any conservative professes an opinion against, say, gay marriage, they're labeled "homophobic" and they get no slack.
He was fired from the Boston Globe for fabrication, lying, theft.
Howie Carr called the reporters at the Globe, ‘The bow tied Bum Kissers”. So, you can guess what it took to get ersatz everyman Barnicle fired.
Maybe there should be a list somewhere where voters can find out who has been in racist groups such as this and other ones like La Raza so we can NOT vote for them.
I’ll bet alot of people didnt know he was a member.
I seem to remember some evidence that Byrd, attended a lynching, although it couldn’t be proved that he participated hands-on, what with everyone being hooded. Would like to have that citation in my records for sending to those who hail his spotless record...
This morning, even NPR radio called him a “champion of civil rights.”

So what. My own Senator at the time, Republican John Tower of Texas also filibustered the Bill as I would have. This travesty of a Bill was outright Socialism. Our other Senator, Liberal/Populist Ralph W. Yarborough not only didn’t filibuster but actually voted for this POS and was promptly thrown out of office.
We cannot wait for the MSM to die. We need to push them over the edge.
