I think a lot of people are letting their disdain for Obama affect their opinions in this matter, but this is one thing he got right. I don’t understand all the sympathy McChrystal has been getting around here. No one can name one postive thing he has accomplished in fifteen months. Even he describes his signature effort, Marja, as a bleeding ulcer. The much ballyhooed offensive in Kandahar still hasn’t gotten off the ground, and the restrictive rules of engagement are McChrystal’s not Obama’s. And finally, i don’t think a commander who would lie on a Silver Star citation has enough integrity to be trusted with my son’s life?

Maybe the Huckabee interview will be more revealing.
Several quotes really got to me.
Liberalism prays on the weak which is who liberals are.
I would say the same about terrorists. They pray on the weak and when opposed run back into their caves.They are a lot like modern liberals who when opposed bring out their only hope, Marxists oriented lawyers who now rule the country.

Brilliant, and I have been saying for weeks now that environmentalists are in reality environmental Marxists. They are and always have been about advancing Marxism first with environmental concerns way down the line.

At first they couldn't allow Bobby Jindall to drop sand bags that created sand islands/berms to keep the oil from hitting the shore due to "permitting" problems at the corp. of engineers in New Orleans where it was discovered that "few permits of this type are ever issued" since they are environmental Marxists running the show.
Then Jindall started dredging up sand to make islands/berms to keep the oil from hitting the shore. Dam if the environmental Marxists didn't prevent this one as well.
Now we see by their actions that they always were political and the politics are that of Karl Marx.
To the environmentalist Marxists its all about a social class where they seize power,through any means from those who created wealth. And when you think about it that's what is going on right now.
The regime takes pretty much what it wants for whomever they want and in the beginning it was the environmental Marxist who laid the ground work for them to do their dirty deeds whether its a spill in the Gulf, brush that needs to be cleaned up to prevent forest fires, dredging sand islands,law suits preventing drilling, nuclear plants you name it.
The enviros are always on the front lines of the game of Marxism which is to steal the wealth of the country any way possible.
And it's working they are in power and they are stealing wealth every day.
Amazing after all this time there are not good helmets for the troops.
IMO Petraeus will remain in a position of power until he himself chooses to give it up. AS a battle hardened General Officer and commander he KNOWS what must be done in order to win.
I believe this man is far to committed to his troops and the nation to play the politics the Left is intent on playing with this war. I think should the Administration attempt to “Vietnamize” this war this General will hand in his resignation.
Add up Karzai, drugs, no will from the rats and you have a formula for pending disaster.
I can not understand restrictive rules of engagement being put into play by a leader of troops makes no sense.Wreaks of liberalism.

Exactly, you nailed it and is their main weapon. Now is the time to point out their cult takes the place of thinking. While they demean Christians we can tell them to look in the mirror and ask to prove Global Warming or some other cause of the day.

Ah you’re too kind, AB. Later in the thread I’ll go into more detail. It’s interesting but let me not mislead. It’s not entirely MY book. My story is, however, the best of the bunch. It is a great book, great writing....seriously.
For now, heh, here’s a concept, we shall stick to the thread as I have thoughts, opinions and such.
First, McCain was right although again, as I make the sign of the cross, why is this man ALWAYS the so-called “conservative” guest? This gives the folks some idea that McCain is the mouth of the Republican party when you, I and all other readers, know that he is definitely not liked.
But he IS the Senator from Arizona and as much as he tried to stretch his mouth to encompass both sides, he was right on about how the federal gubmint treats Arizona crap. Did you hear federal agencies are now boycotting Arizona? Did you ever think the day would come in your lifetime when our President would go to war against a state? and all because the state wants to protect its citizens?
Next, hey, Shiela Lee! She looks normal! She doesn’t have that African braid thing on her head. She looks like a normal American and she’s not talking too weird. She’s still a dumb lib. Maybe I’m reading too much into it but I’m thinking the Dems in California have probably been pushed too far left, that Barbara Boxer might already have gone too far, that the Dems need to go back to center if they’ve got a chance. I’m probably reading too much into the makeover of Shiela Lee but hey, recall the mockery that Boxer got for her Donald Trump hairstyle, which she rightly deserved.
As for Afghanistan, America needs to figure out a way how to get the hell out of there without making it look like we’re losing.
First, my thinking is that McChrystal planned this entire episode. He knew that those ridiculous rules of engagement (don’t shoot your gun until command is given?) were causing death and danger. Without this big public uproar I think the cowardly Obamer admin (this is a guy who throws a baseball like a girl and eats cilantro) would get more and more absurd until the ROE’s would command that our guys surrender immediately upon any sighting of a Taliban.
I suspect that Petraeus demanded that the ROE’s be changed as there’s been hints of this since McChrystal quite.
As for Afghanistan, I don’t have the solution. But I sure think throwing our money and military folks at that neanderthal place is a waste of resources.
A REAL leader would be pondering and thinking of how to do this with as much pride as possible. I think the Obamer admin plan was to have our guys keep getting killed until Americans demand we leave there.
Kinda like Vietnam, you think?
One of the most compelling comments this am on one of the panels..someone said, “ We have 1% of our population carrying the weight ( our military ) for 99% of our population.
I sure wish they would put the draft back, but then, I don’t think the military wants it....although they could be WAY more selective..and maybe we could get 8% of our population lifting the defense weight.
I agree with your assessment of Petraeus, but 18 months ago we would probably have said the same things about McChrystal.
Regarding the panel discussing Afghanistan on MTP.....agree...it’s a very interesting discussion.
Tom Ricks tells Barbara Lee if you want an endless war, walk out of Afghanistan now, that’s what we’ll have.
I’ve always loved the Century series jets. I spent many an hour watching and hearing Thuds, Voodoos and Delta Darts flying around the bases I was stationed at.
Still, my favorite was the 104. What a classic! Straight out of the science fiction magazines.
