ORLANDO, Fla. -- A fight over the Tea Party name is getting ugly in Orlando. Late Thursday morning, a news conference by one group turned into a shouting match and police had to be called out.
At the Supervisor of Elections Office Thursday, there was some pushing, shoving and name-calling. It happened between two groups that both claim to be part of the Tea Party.
Members of the Tea Party Movement insist their name was hijacked by political consultant Doug Guetzloe and local attorney Fred O'Neal, who registered a third party called the Florida Tea Party. But Guetzloe, O'Neal and some of their candidates showed up to dispute that and that's when things got heated

Sometimes even a tea party is no party./s
Sounds like sabotage to me.
Time to send in some Mods...and sniff them out!
File a lawsuit on the lefties like they would on us.
Deception with fraudulent intent misleads voters. That is the damages a Plaintiff could claim
This is going to be a problem. My feeling is that no one should use the words in the name of a political party. It’s a movement and needs lots of room in its shoes so it can grow.
OK, so who is who in all this. Is Peg Dunmire a real conservative. Doug Goetzloe was Ax the Tax, right? So who is Grayson supposedly backing to split votes? The focus has to be Grayson, who is of course nuts, but nuts with money.
Everything in life is seems can sooner or later be reduced to a Monty Python skit. Whatever happened to the Judean People’s Front?
IMHO, the phrase “Tea Party” has become too generic a term to be trademarked.
It would be like creating a business called “The Pizza Restaurant”, and then claiming nobody else could use the word Pizza in the name of their business ans sueing “Pizza Hut”, “Pizza Inn”, “Papa John’s Pizza” for having the word pizza in their name.
Like pizza, if someone want to use the phrase “tea party” in the title of their organization they should be free to do so, but they can’t claim an exclusinve right to the use the phrase. Too generic.
They were co-opted by the Judean Liberation Army.
It's ironic that the tea partiers here in NJ went for Lonegan, but Christie has turned out to be the true tea party governor. He's ALL about not raising taxes, and cutting the cost of government. Simple. And right now, it's actually a seller's market for that message. The tea party is a reflection of that--it was also an instigator of the public discussion. Demonstrations work.
In short, the tea party was a public demonstration by citizens. Any attempt to organize or institutionalize it will render it nugatory.
Central Florida Tea Party Council Calls for Withdrawal of Peg Dunmire; Confrontation Erupts
Thanks!
Here we have Jason Hoyt (of the Phil Russo, Tom Tillison, group “Tea Party Patriots Live” & Todd Long Campaign) asking Peg Dunmire (of Guetsloe’s Tea Party Party) to drop out of the primary race in District 8.
Hoyt accuses Guetsloe of using the tea party name for his candidate Peg Dunmire, and of course we know that Hoyt and his friends are using the “Tea Party Patriots Live” name for Todd Long!
Teapot and kettle??
Dirty tricks connected to Grayson are expected....but some from “Tea Party Groups” and “9/12 Groups” are not expected. But then, some Republican primary candidates are getting a little desperate so they will try what they can. It is the voters job to weed out the dishonest no matter which party they are in!
hijacked by political consultant Doug Guetzloe and local attorney Fred O'NealNeither of them should have left the meeting, uh, fully intact.
Grayson should have left the GOP meeting he high jacked in an ambulance. Thats the problem with our side, sometime we are just to nice and willing to be forced to follow the rules.
Yes. I hope this logic holds up. Usually one group sues enother for using its brand name. This is a little different. We don’t want anyone to use it. There are words like independence, people’s, etc. that seem to be generic but are also used in party names. We’ll see how it shakes out. It’s only really important this year.
