so who gets CENTCOM?

Wondering that myself. I have to admit I'm relieved that Petraeus is taking over but isn't that a bit of a slap for being an outstanding leader?

Two demotions - one for Petraeus and one for McChrystal.

General Petraeus can’t handle both CENTCOM and Afghanistan.

I’m still baffled as to why anyone would agree to give an interview to Rolling Stone. Nothing good can come from that (unless you are Obama).

Good luck to our troops. With Obama CIC, they are going to need it. God bless our men and women doing a nasty job.

Gen. David Petraeus is already the Afghanistan CDR. He is the CENTCOM CINC. Something is screwy here.

Pres’ent DUh-bama is the one who should be “RELIEVED of command”. His own party said worse of him during the campaign...he asked one of them to be his running mate and filled cabinet posts with the rest. They were all far more critical than any comments attributed to the general.

Maybe McChrystal should run for President...you know, just to further piss off the Purple-lipped peacock

Don’t put some lesbian in charge. When all is said and done, we have OUR troops in the field depending on us to give them the best equipment, the best intelligence, the best ROEs, and the best LEADERSHIP.

Never desert our troops. Ever.

McChrystal fell on his sword for some reason. Here’s hoping he gets a quick opportunity to tell why to America. His apology probably salvaged his retirement, but he doesn’t have to be released from service, so he isn’t necessarily going to get a chance to talk.

Who didn’t see this coming?

If the Obamanation hadn’t done this, then he’d be seen as a being unable to control the military by the left.

And that’s one of the last things he wants, is for his base - the left - to see him as ineffective and weak. Now the rest of America already knows he’s weak, but his supporters don’t yet.

Petraeus was already over the Afghanistan command at CENTCOM HQ. Its natural for HQ commander to temporarily takeover until they find another field commander. Besides, such an announced tactic will resonate with world perception. I highly doubt that Petraeus is going to be the day-to-day guy in Afghanistan for a lengthy period of time. He has able commanders that work for him. That is how things work.

I get the feeling the libs don’t care nearly as much about the war as they did when Bush was president.

Obama’s General gets dumped, Bush’s General returns.

Can Bush return as CIC too?

Don't do it General Petraeus. You will just be the fall guy for Obama. He doesn't want to win. The ROEs are designed to just keep getting Americans killed. The announced departure date will lead to scenes like the last days in Saigon as we try to get out. Petraeus will tarnish his own chances for higher office if he takes this on and Obama keeps strangling the US war effort.

If Obama had dressed down McChristal and kept him in command, he would be better able to control what he says in the future.

Right now, I see a best selling book in the near future by McChristal on how Obama $@*&@$#$% the Afghan War. UNLESS Obama in some other way blackmails him.
