NEW ORLEANS A federal judge in New Orleans has blocked a six-month moratorium on new deepwater drilling projects that was imposed in response to the massive Gulf oil spill.
Several companies that ferry people and supplies and provide other services to offshore drilling rigs had asked U.S. District Judge Martin Feldman in New Orleans to overturn the moratorium.
President Barack Obama's administration has halted the approval of any new permits for deepwater drilling and suspended drilling at 33 exploratory wells in the Gulf.
Feldman says in his ruling that the Interior Department failed to provide adequate reasoning for the moratorium. He says it seems to assume that because one rig failed, all companies and rigs doing deepwater drilling pose an imminent danger.
White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said the administration would "immediately appeal" a U.S. judge's decision Tuesday to block its six-month moratorium on deepwater drilling.

There are some good courts afterall.
And while they appeal what the judge ruled they couldn’t legally do, they’re going to do it again.
I’m sure the judge will view this as cute.
I would Hope soon the entire country will ask the question ,Who The Hells side is this Guy On? Every thing he does is at odds with the Good of American Citizens who Pay all the Bills. Private business ,Health Care,Citizenship,Military,Toilets,Light Bulbs,Oil,Food You Name it this guy is Anti Life ,Literally
Obama will refuse to golf in New Orleans that will teach them.
If they have not realized the answer to that Question already we are already finished.
The scenerio I had posed in the past was ANWAR.
XYZ Co. has Alaskan permission to drill and they have a ton of money to 'invest'.
XYZ Co. stages throughout the US and almost perfectly timed, a few hundred trucks with equipment and machinery start the drive north through Alaska ... or a couple of dozen tankers loaded with materiel set sail for the northern coast of Alaska.
The fed says don't you do it or else, and XYZ says go $h!t in your hat.
What's the fed to do?
Send in the gendarmes?
And if they do, is there an XYZ Co that has the balls to arm itself with some money hungry roughnecks willing to fight whomever to get to the job that'll pay them 30 or 40/hr (to start)
Louisiana is showing us (via the judge), that they will control their state and the fed can go $h!t in it's hat
The ‘green’ president in action, all this is for the stopping of drilling here. I tell you, here on the Gulf coast, OIL is most important to us, JOBS!! JOBS!! JOBS!! are at stake.
Can’t you just see Obama and the Obots going around screaming and kicking doors ! He sees himself as Chavez and this judge best look over his shoulder -
Have any lawyers on FR weighed in on this?
I am wondering about the appeal and what will happen.
We down here think Obama is so wrong on this but given the daily oil spill and it is soon to get worse as this stuff hits the beaches in fla,,,I don’t think this is as easy as everyone thinks.
Sure we want jobs, sure we want the feds out of this, sure we hate Obama but this oil speaks for itself.
Who’s paying to fight this ruling, taxpayers or $oro$?
Pray for America
None that I have seen as of yet, but tell you one thing, it is only the case for Obama to close the drilling down for his payback to the ‘green buddies’. We all down here know the impact it is having on us, the workers, just the not knowing is killing us. How Long!! not known, WHY! not known!
We have friends close to our place here in the county that are at witts end, living from hand to mouth, just not knowing. It is a shame to be governed by someone who has no idea of what to do....let us get back to drilling.
