Wisconsin Senate: Feingold (D) 46%, Johnson (R) 45%
Rasmussen Reports ^ | June 22, 2010

Incumbent Democrat Russ Feingold is still in a virtual dead heat with endorsed Republican challenger Ron Johnson in Wisconsin’s U.S. Senate race.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in the state shows Feingold drawing 46% of the vote, while Johnson picks up 45%. Only three percent (3%) would vote for another candidate, and six percent (6%) are undecided.

The two men also were tied in late May, just after Johnson was officially endorsed at the state’s Republican convention.

Businessman Dave Westlake is challenging Johnson for the GOP nomination to be decided in a September 14 primary. Given that matchup, Feingold draws 47% of the vote to Westlake’s 41%. Four percent (4%) prefer another candidate, while seven percent (7%) are undecided.

Ron Johnson is showing amazing strength. Is he widely known in Wisconsin already?

I was under the impression that he had barely gotten started yet, but I’m not in WI of course.

I don’t believe so, but I think right now people would rather vote for a dead cat than Rusty the Red. The fact that Johnson appears to be a good solid conservative is icing on the cake.

He just barely got started. I have an envelope next to my computer that I’m going to stuff with a check. Feingold, what a piece of work.

Feingold’s tough though. He’s not a moon-bat lefty. He plays the lunchbox, independent Democrat very well. Madison and Milwaukee will probably give him the edge.

Stunning, since no one had even heard of Johnson before the GOP convention. (Some folks may have, but he was certainly not even in the top two GOP candidates before the convention.)

Poll doesn’t factor in the obligatory Milwaukee DemoRat voter fraud. If Feingold isn’t down by at least 5 or 6 points going into the election, the Republicans are in trouble.

Any incumbent that is under 50% is in trouble as undecideds tend to break heavily toward the challenger. That being said, it's still 5 months until the election and ACORN fraud has to be figurered in.

I hope Westlake drops out and throws his support behind Ron Johnson, and then Ron will have a much better chance at beating Feingold. Feingold likes to tout himself as a “maverick” when in reality, he only goes against the dems when his vote doesn’t count.

Madison and Milwaukee will probably give him the edge.

In most election cycles, yes. But Scott Walker running for governor might give Johnson a teensy bounce in Milwaukee.

This will be the battle of our lives. It will be HUGE if we can get rid of Feingold. The voter fraud in Milwaukee and Madison is unbelievable.

This is excellent.

No. Dave Westlake has been in the race since before January. Johnson jumped in in May, right before the State convention.

They held their first debate, yesterday, Westlake and Johnson.

Here's an article about both men.

Another article about the men from Journal Sentinel

I am supporting Dave Westlake. He is a conservative, he's a businessman and a West Point grad. Johnson is a conservative, but kind of shaky on the Constitution, and has cancelled a couple of appearances before TEA party crowds although he was well-received early in his candidacy by them. He owns a plastics company. I will support whoever wins the primary.

Wouldn’t it be great if we could refer to McCain AND Feingold in the past tense?

Johnson will have to win by a solid 3-5 points because the Rats will steal the election in Milwaukee.

I must disagree. Feingold is most definitely a moonbat. But he unlike most has a tiny shred of integrity and on rare occasion casts a decent vote.
