Plagiarizing myself:
This fight is very old in America.
Strenuous efforts to keep the Government OUT of schools and to assure a free, objective and unbiased media (or at least, a functional moral counter) are absolute requirements if you would avoid tyranny. Failing in these two, it doesnt matter what else you do right because it wont matter. We are finding that out right now.
Unfortunately for the last several decades, the US relaxed its guard against both of these preconditions to tyranny and now we (I almost hate to say it) got what we deserve.
If O did not come along to yank Liberal Americans out of their social/political brand X status, some other equally manipulative and opportunistic person would have suited DNC purposes. O takes radical populism uptown and calls it hope and change. Guys like O are thick on the ground in America, nowadays
its time for Conservatives to take the gloves off!!
I blame Conservatives who should have seen this coming way back!

Excellent article. The issue is not whether the people of the Gulf Coast deserve compensation, but the method der Fuhrer Hussein 0bama has decreed that BP will pay it and how much it pays. He has appointed another Czar to decide how much each claimant receives of the BP slush fund. Is this the work of a democracy?

Lawrence Livermore Laboratories has discovered the heaviest element yet known to science. The new element, Governmentium (symbol=Gv), has one neutron , 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312. These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.
Governmentium is in the same period as Republicium, which has a half-life of a few 100 years, then decays into Populisium, having a greater tendency for this when mixed with Liberalium. Populisium itself has a short half-life, decaying quickly into Totalitarium.
Note: The half-life of Republium can be increased by keeping it deeply immersed in a strong cold bath of secondamendmium.

The Road to Serfdom by Fredrick Hayek pretty much explains how to go from liberty to tyranny but too many people(who should know better) ignore this classic book.

I have been posting for quite some time that, given the way that Congress works (or doesn't work), about the only way to roll back MOST of their egregious intrusions into our lives is by a revolution of some sort. We can revolt peacefully through massive civil disobedience, or with force, but, if we wait for the Congress to make the necessary corrections to the government, h&ll will freeze first.
Mr. Sowell’s observations are a little late to the party. Nonetheless, I have tremendous respect for him and his brilliant mind and welcome him to the table.

Depending on your view points went over this lip and started sliding in either 1861, 1901, or 1912. In any case, we’ve definitely been sliding downhill since FDR...

I am reminded of a comment I heard from a high school teacher after DumBO was elected: “All the kids are excited about getting free pot now.” When your reality is how much “free” stuff you’re going to get, there is no reason to question “who” is going to give it to you.

"why can't everyone see this"
Because they're too eager to get their "free" cookie from big government. Like a close friend of mine who says he's now for socialism. He doesn't have the slightest clue what socialist life would be like, but like many other Dems and liberals, they think the "rich" (who obviously are all conservative Republicans) will get their wealth confiscated, and they will reap the benefits. They can't think beyond their own selfish desires.

What worries me is that it is going to have to get REALLY bad, even worse than it is now, for people to wake up. At that point I fear we will have passed the point of no return, with too few awake and willing/able to fight back.

Wonderful article. Please take the time to read it. Hedgecock and Rush read this on their shows. Send this to everyone you know who has no concept of history.
