The anti-Palin
Politico ^ | 6/21/10 | Ben Smith

The New Yorker today discovers Mike Huckabee, but also astutely picks up the center of his political attraction to some Republicans right now, which is that he neutralizes Palin:

In some ways, Huckabee seems like a promising candidate for 2012: a squeaky-clean family man and bona-fide Christian who loves to talk. His communication is folksy but fluid; he never seems flummoxed, like George W. Bush, or befuddled, like John McCain, or unprepared, like Sarah Palin. “If we're running a race against their most articulate guy,” Steve Schmidt, John McCain's former campaign manager, told me, referring to President Obama, “we should put our most articulate guy. Huckabee's that guy.” Schmidt, who has traded barbs with Palin since the election, said, “There's no one who really provides a better contrast to Sarah Palin, showing her as an entertainer instead of a serious thinker—and there's not enough oxygen for both of them.”

The piece skimps a bit, I think, on his personal ambivalence -- which he'll gladly express -- about dropping the life he's got to run for president again.

Comparing the two only makes Huckabee look sillier by comparison.

Ronald Reagan outlined his conservative philosophy in his radio addresses, he, unlike Huckabee, is a great speaker with IDEAS behind his speech, not just feel good ‘your Un-Christian if you don't agree with me’ claptrap.

How much “serious thinking” went into Huckabee’s release of murderers who went on to murder again?

How much “serious thinking” went into Huckabee’s stance that it is “unChristian” to deny government services to illegal aliens?

Please outline the “serious thoughts” that Huckabee is guided by.

If you’ll read my comment, you’ll see I was referring to the current occupant of Casa Blanca.

Huckabee is about as far from Reagan as you could get. Huck is a phony and has ZERO chance to ever be president. He is a passive aggressive woman in a man’s body.

I’m from Arkansas. Huck is a socialist-lite loser who is for open borders. He opened a Mexican Consulate in Little Rock and tried to get college tuition for children of illegals. He recently moved to Florida to escape the high taxes that HE raised in Arkansas. He’s another McCain without the war hero status.

You didn’t vote for W?

I didn't vote for Ford. I was active duty Navy at the time, and both candidates were asked if they would give the military a payraise. Ford said "No", and Carter didn't answer the question. I voted for the "Maybe" instead of the "No". If you remember the payscales of the 1970's for the military, you'll understand where I was coming from. A lot of NCOs qualified for food stamps at the time.

I don't make many mistakes, but when I do I don't make little ones.

I agree but I am frightened by the dumb suicide voters who might show up again for the Iowa caucus...he seems to have a cult of born again Christians who think he's the best thing since they voted for Pat Robertson.

Seriously, we have a problem here in Iowa...and Huckahillbilly makes them come out in droves.

They are going to boycott the Governor's race because their Huck endorsed candidate didn't win, even though the Republican who did win is 100 times better than the irresponsible Democrat, Debt Culver. They would rather a RAT win than vote for someone not quite as "pure' as they perceive themselves.

~LOL~ STEVE SCHMIDT!!!!!!!!!!! Not only did he totally screw up McCain’s campaign.... along with Rick Davis and Mark Salter, but this is the guy who convinced Arnie he had to turn to the left to get re-elected in California... he is also strongly pro-abortion and pro-gay marriage... Huckabee should be running as fast as he can away from this guy.

“Left wing pundits trying to pick our candidates again.”

PRECISELY! It has worked since Dole, so why not!
Are people stupid enough to let this happen again?
Probably.

The fact that the media is promoting Huckabee shows how weak the potential 2012 GOP candidates are.

Other than John Hoeven (and he's running for Senate) I don't see any other current or former Republican Governor that has the experience, the leadership, and the conservatism that Governor Palin has.

Huck: Prepared to compromise on all critical issues!

(and when has Sarah Palin ever been unprepared? She is the epitome of political preparedness)

Huckabee is a big government liberal. He just plays a conservative on television.

That’s true; Huck’s a big gov’t type. Which makes Romney, by comparison, a rank marxist.

All you need to do is read “In His Own Hand” to know that there has never been a more serious thinker than Ron Reagan.

All Huck ever thinks about is where and when his next meal is.

“You didn’t vote for W?”

.
W’s Christian credentials completely evaporated when he said that the Muzzies worship the same God as we do.

W has no idea who Jesus Christ is.
