The anti-Palin
Politico ^ | 6/21/10 | Ben Smith

Posted on 06/21/2010 10:22:27 AM PDT by pissant

The New Yorker today discovers Mike Huckabee, but also astutely picks up the center of his political attraction to some Republicans right now, which is that he neutralizes Palin:

In some ways, Huckabee seems like a promising candidate for 2012: a squeaky-clean family man and bona-fide Christian who loves to talk. His communication is folksy but fluid; he never seems flummoxed, like George W. Bush, or befuddled, like John McCain, or unprepared, like Sarah Palin. “If we're running a race against their most articulate guy,” Steve Schmidt, John McCain's former campaign manager, told me, referring to President Obama, “we should put our most articulate guy. Huckabee's that guy.” Schmidt, who has traded barbs with Palin since the election, said, “There's no one who really provides a better contrast to Sarah Palin, showing her as an entertainer instead of a serious thinker—and there's not enough oxygen for both of them.”

The piece skimps a bit, I think, on his personal ambivalence -- which he'll gladly express -- about dropping the life he's got to run for president again.

Someone may want to tell Huck that having Schmidt sing praises about your political acumen is the equivalent of Cindy Sheehan vouching for your patriotism.

Anyone that hires Steve Schmidt will NOT GET MY VOTE in a primary.

The Huckster is dead meat politically after the felon he pardoned murdered again. Aside from which, he’s firmly in the compassionate/socialist Republican camp, so a double no-go.

Palin ‘12, or run someone even better. Her character’s got my vote, and she’s sufficiently a “serious thinker” from what I’ve read of her opinions.

Huckabee is an entertainer, NOT a serious thinker.

Anyone who thinks Huckabee is a serious thinker is seriously not thinking.

Huckabee is one of the most feelings based unthinking irrational candidates I have ever seen on the GOP side.

I remember McCain getting talked up like this in 2006 and 2007. If he gets nominated, look for the long knives from the MSM.

Get back to me when the huckster makes the following statement:

“Obama pals around with terrorists”

If there’s not enough political oxygen for both Sarah and Huck, I’ll happily feed a political exhaust hose into Huck’s political car until he politically croaks from political carbon monoxide poisoning.

He’s a pastor, I’m always reminded of it every word he says. I know this sounds wrong but a pres has to be an SOB every once in a while.

Bush had the temprement but he had McCain disease - he kept wandering to the wrong side of the aisle.

But one thing you can say about Huck - he’s run something.

I laugh when this guy says McCain seems flummoxed. And Obama seems...not flummoxed?

Interesting timing of this. The day after Sarah went after Rahm. Meanwhile, the rest of the “men” of the GOP are either quiet or running for cover on this.

Another Politico hit piece directed at TRUE Conservatives and Palin. It has been one a day.
Politico has become undependable for honest content. I used to go there for good commentary. Not worth the time now.

The Huckster is dead meat politically after the felon he pardoned murdered again.

Yeah, one of his first official acts in office would probably be to pardon Obama.

Hickabee has already said he is not running again. Isn’t it funny that everyoe on the left is trying to promote every other candidate other than Sarah?
