AMSTERDAM – A Dutch newspaper that interviewed Joran van der Sloot in his prison cell in Lima, Peru, said Monday he has retracted his confession to the killing of a young woman there.
De Telegraaf said the 22-year-old Dutchman claims he only signed papers admitting killing Stephany Flores because he was intimidated by police and had been promised he would be transferred to the Netherlands if he confessed.
"I was very scared and confused during the interrogations and wanted to get away," the paper quoted him as saying. "In my blind panic, I signed everything, but didn't even know what it said."
Van der Sloot is the main suspect in Flores' May 30 killing in a Lima hotel, exactly 5 years after the still unsolved disappearance of U.S. teen Natalee Holloway on Aruba. He met both women in casinos, and both were last seen alive in his company.
Peruvian President Alan Garcia has said Van der Sloot will have to be tried in Flores' death before any extradition request can be considered. In addition to possible involvement in Holloway's disappearance, for which Van der Sloot has not been charged, he is wanted by the FBI on suspicion of attempting to extort money from the Holloway family.

The evidence s overwhelming. There is no way he can get out of this one and no one sane will believe he didn’t do it. I can’t wait till they put him in general population. He EARNED the abuse he will receive.

It will be comical to see this congenital liar explain to a court how the security camera managed to capture him and the victim entering the room, but only him leaving the room, without a trace of any other intruder entering the room.
I'd like to him to explain the DNA under the fingertips of the Peru girl. Urine has talked himself into a corner.

He can't, and he can't explain the tape that shows him and the girl going into the room and him leaving and no one else going in.

Just be glad he’s not here in our legal “system”. Maybe the Peruvians will do the right thing and quicker than ever would have happened here.
Wasn’t it two black men who wandered into the room? The same two black men who killed Martha Moxley.
The police are allowed to trick a suspect into confessing. It’s done all the time. Anyway they don’t even need his confession with all the other evidence they have.
Post public notice and broadcast the date, time and location of the BASTARDS release and let the PUBLIC deal with him!
Actually this is good. It makes him endure a trial and a justice system angry at him. And he will be given a heavier sentence.
Without a confession his sentence will be much harsher.
I don’t know how this fits into his plans but I heard on Nancy Grace’s show that if he plead guilty his trial could occur in about six months. If he stays with not guilty it could take two to three years.
Maybe his family hired OJ to tour golf courses looking for a one-armed man!
