A new bill introduced in the Senate would give the president the equivalent of an Internet "kill switch" if passed. The concept has some communications companies hoping that legislators would rather kill the bill.

The bill is known as the Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act.

Many Americans are using the Internet as their soul source of voice communications. If Obama had an Internet "kill switch", he could turn off their phone service. No president should ever have this sort of authority.

While his hollywood elitist tools (who will be the free arts class of people as long as they tow the party line) scream “racism”, Obama pushes deeper into the “Chavez”.

Sadly, like most two-bit dictators, its all about the shoes, golf, palaces, fame and money.

Why would the Saudis want oil pumped out of the gulf? Soros is betting on Petrobus.

If anything would make me rise up it would be the attempted banning of FREE SPEECH. This is the USA, not Russia, Venezuela, Cuba. We have everything to lose if we do not stand up to this threat...time to draw a line and man-woman up and defend our life, liberties and pursuit of happiness. Our forefathers fought a tea tax...what will it take for US to stand up and fight for FREEDOM!

This acceleration of disconnect of government from the people is reminiscent of the timeline setout in William Schirer's "Rise and Fall of the Third Reich".

The geometric increase in destabilizing events led by a rogue government made the German people the caboose on the train and their country was destroyed because of their inability to 'take back their country'.

Rise and Fall of the Third Reich was required reading in high schools once upon a time. It is long and thick and hard to read due to the number of events covered. The one thing you can take away from the book is that so much happened so quickly and was purpotrated on the many by the few - like what's happening today with the leftists in charge in D.C.

How could this even be done? The internet is every computer in the world with an online connection. I understand there are huge servers which help to keep things going fast, but it would require the complete take over of all tech companies in the US.

The bill is known as the Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act.

I thought Obama’s plan was to turn over the Internet to UN control.

I have a 1200 baud that works just fine. Just keep the bbs boards low on content and high on information.

If the Pres hits the kill switch, the internet is gone. No modem will overcome that.

Internet 'Kill Switch' Proposed For President

I saw the headline and thought that it would give us an opportunity to use the internet to kill the President's agenda.

Somehow i see a dark motive in everything this Obama govt. wants to do with the ultimate goal of complete control of the government by the Dems and far left for years to come...Rverything being done is in the name of CONTROL—of the government-most imprtant; then control of GDP output, of Health Care, insurance,of labor with Labor Unions being the drivers of the serfs, of Mass Media to toe the government’s line, of open borders allowing their fervent backerss in, of a push for Sharia law in our Courts and a push for One World Government...These are dark hours for America..

I doubt someone could ‘turn off’ the internet, even if one or many companies gave someone the ability to do so. It would be like trying to give someone a “kill switch” over all of the electricity in America...

Sure many would lose power, but others would continue.

The internet is far too dispersed, with much of it outside of our borders and jurisdiction to have any hope of controlling it.

No president should ever have this sort of authority.

Agreed. When they assume that kind of power they're called dictators. We're rapidly heading toward a totalitarian America.
