Congressman Demands Answers on Afghan Deserters AWOL From Texas Base

A Texas congressman is demanding answers from the Air Force on the current status of the 10 AWOL Afghan military deserters, which he called a breach of national security.

Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, asked Air Force Secretary Michael B. Donley for an immediate report on the status of the missing men and an assessment of the potential threat to citizens of Texas. He demanded to know why he was not informed about the missing Afghans over the course of the last two years.

"Your department's failure to provide critical information related to this incident is unacceptable," Cornyn wrote. "Finally, it is a serious mistake for officials to approach this serious breach as an immigration violation rather than a threat to the safety and security of our homeland and our citizens."

I know the reason. It is because the US government has shown absolutely NO desire to track down and deport illegal aliens inside our borders. This attitude has infected the Air Force, too. The truth is that only about 1/3 of Congress has any appetite to fight illegal immigration. The rest look at the illegals as cheap labor for their constituents and a potential source of permanent socialist voters.

They were supposedly here (San Antonio) for language training.

I guess it is possible some of them just like it here but my guess is they are terrorists and extremely evil people wanting to and able to harm Americans and America.

Recapturing should have been an extreme urgency.

My point was that for nearly 20 years we have not seriously enforced our immigration laws to the point that no one in government worries about a few more.
