I think Alaska still has some of the tamest drug laws in the nation.

“Making something illegal doesn’t mean people will stop doing it, it just means more people will go to jail and/or get killed.”

And more property will be siezed...

I dint say “god want you to smoke pot”

God also gave you free will..

You are NOT your bothers keeper...when you take your bothers free will even for his own good...that is an offront to the word of god.

”If you protect a man from folly, you will soon have a nation of fools.“ - William Penn

If folks were not saved from the consequences of their choices at the expense of others,
they’d make a lot fewer foolish choices.

Singapore has long bitter experience with drugs. It has controlled the problem by HANGING trafficers. That is the solution. To stop the organized crime portion you take out the distribution.

I take the opposite tack: MANDATORY pot use, and HANGING those who do not comply.

I didn’t get that at all. When I read this article, I think what she is trying to say is that we should simply put to death anyone caught smoking pot in their homes. This way you only have to deal with them once and then you’re done. It’s brilliant and quite simplistic. sarc/

I’m sorry, historically, Singapore was at the focus of the opium trade between China and Europe. The common availability of Opium led to the destruction of the culture.
They no longer have this problem thanks to the noose.

I think she’s simply talking priorities. You have ma and pa hippies next door smoking a joint from pot they grew in their back yard (depending on the state it’s legal if you have a medical marijuana license) or next door you have a 65 year old grandmother being beat up and robbed. Resources are finite. Besides, the war on drugs is a miserable failure. I honestly don’t know what approach to take but I do know the one we’ve been using hasn’t worked. After this many decades you’d think people would realize that.

“God wants us to smoke pot” isn’t going to fly.

I don't think that is the argument.

To me, the idea that the government has the power to make a God given plant illegal is insulting.

Caning is for minor crimes. Here we put kids into the criminal justice system and screw up their lives for years. There, they quickly try the case and if found guilty the perp is punished promptly. They don’t even miss a day of school. Oh, and by the way the recidivism rate is very low.

Kids caught with soft drugs get a seven week drug rehab couse.

Alcohol is proof God loves his children.

Oh yeah, I forgot I was talking to a Catholic. ; )

I'll never understand human behavior. People defend and rationalize their chosen vice, then get behind the persecution of those who choose differently.

Yes, but as you know, alcohol in moderation is very healthy, both physically and mentally. Hard to make that claim about heroine, PCP, Meth and LSD

Pot Smokers usually can’t get off the couch and out of the frig or out from in front of the TV to commit crime.

This is something my LEO brother in law mentioned. I don't want the harder drugs legalized, but what if it were legal to grow their own and use it? Ha! Sounds like Prohibition, doesn't it? You can have it as long as you didn't buy it.

Grrrrr...that is another discussion. The fact that we only "own" things until Big Brother decides we don't goes against everything on which this country was founded.
