President Obama's speech on the gulf oil disaster Tuesday night was written at a 10th-grade level, which, according to analysts, may have gone over the heads of many in his audience...
Tuesday night's speech from the Oval Office of the White House was written to a 9.8 grade level, said Paul J.J. Payack, president of Global Language Monitor. The Austin, Texas-based company analyzes and catalogues trends in word usage and word choice and their impact on culture.
Though the president used slightly less than four sentences per paragraph, his 19.8 words per sentence "added some difficulty for his target audience," Payack said.
He singled out this sentence from Obama as unfortunate: "That is why just after the rig sank, I assembled a team of our nation's best scientists and engineers to tackle this challenge -- a team led by Dr. Steven Chu, a Nobel Prize-winning physicist and our nation's secretary of energy."

That’s how 0nama is approaching every single thing. In his mind, he knows more than anybody else about everything. So, if other people don’t accept his line of thinking, he thought they got him wrong, and “Let me be clear...”
Amen!!!!!

“Obama’s nearly 10th-grade-level rating was the highest of any of his major speeches and well above the Grade 7.4 of his 2008 “Yes, we can” victory speech, which many consider his best effort, Payack said.”
So - you mean - if you speak closer to the level of an adult, you lose his biggest supporters?
Well...we are the “small” people, after all. lolol
We will see just how “small” we are in November!
Thats a nice way of saying that no one knows what the hellz hes talking about, and nor does he. Because hes just reading off of a prepared script written by someone even dumber than him.
I guess he is seeking those 5th graders votes!
Looney Tunes in the White House...
Yep, G D A, just a bunch of ignorant fools with a leader who is too brilliant to be understood by them.
You know folks, we don’t deserve him. He is so above us.
So step down Obambi. It’s breaking my heart how misunderstood you are. /s
“So - you mean - if you speak closer to the level of an adult, you lose his biggest supporters?”
I’d say so...lol
So now it’s America’s fault.
LMAO
Flesch-Kincaid grade level of Obama’s speech: 8.62
Ah...see...the analyst notes that suggesting the oil spill is worse than a hurricane because hurricanes cause damage within minutes or days compared with long lasting damage caused by oil spills...might have been...how do you say....’insensitive’ to Katrina survivors because New Orleans lost 1/3 of it’s population and is still rebuilding.
Why DID Oboma choose to include hurricanes? Was it to quell unfavorable comments comparing his response to that of George Bush re Katrina. So Zero is saying that George is perceived as handling Katrina better than Obama is handling the oil spill only because...Katrina was ‘easier’?
I think you’ve hit the nail square on the head.
He’s too good for us. So,...since we are so undeserving of such great leadership...he should step down, and leave us with the leaders this great country deserves.
Now...who would that be? Hopefully, another Reagan...another Thatcher. The letter “P” comes to mind.
one can only cry; I agree with the premise of the article in the excerpt in the context that the american public probably cannot deal with a narrative that complicated in a positive fashion.
Given we are at day 50 plus, this 'sentence' sure is over my head. From the 'beginning' BamBam did everything he could by picking the smartest and brightest to 'tackle'.... how does one tackle 'oil'?
