FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long says the school has "no interest" in joining another conference amid speculation the Razorbacks could be a candidate to move to the Big 12.
Long said Wednesday that Arkansas is happy in the Southeastern Conference.
The Big 12 recently lost Nebraska to the Big Ten and Colorado to the Pac-10, leaving it with 10 members.
Arkansas left the Southwest Conference and joined the SEC in 1991.
Some of its old rivals from the Southwest Conference -- such as Texas and Texas A&M -- now play in the Big 12.

Big 12, y’all can have Vandy and South Carolina. :-)
Hotty Toddy!
MM (in TX)
Well my Razorbacks would win more games in the Big 12.
Title bugged me for a second. “What are the athletics of a college doing on the Securities and Exchange Commision?”
Since the SEC pays them 3 to 4 times as much as the Big12 would, of course they are stayng put. Think CSU and BYU to complete the Big12 or if they want to edge into SEC territory University of Memphis.
Why the hell would Ark. leave the most wealthy and healthy conference in the land? This is not to be taken seriously.
Thanks for doing the math for all the Aggies out there.
:-)
Sorry the big players in the SEC know that the problem with the SEC is that it has too many program in the 31st and 23rd most populous states in the country. We would be happy to ditch either one in either state, but probably we wont do that yet.
Monetarily the SEC wins hands down. That’s what all this crap is about.
I never understood anyone’s suggestion that Arkansas would leave the SEC. Why on earth would they do that. They left the SWC because they thought Texas controlled the conference. So, why would they go back when it’s obvious Texas controls the Big Whatever?
Anyone who thought the Hogs would leave simply has no clue what they’re talking about.
GO DAWGS.
Exactly, so many people want to talk about things like how good this or that team is. Being good is irrelevant. Conferences will only take a small state team like the Big 11 took UNL to get a championship game and the SEC took SoCar and UAR to get a championship game.
If you already have a championship game, it is a matter of how many eyeballs can you put in front of tvs.
After growing up in an SEC city the military transported me to a PAC-10 city. I lived there in and out for 15 years. The media support is 1/10th at best. Fan support about the same. Don’t blame anyone but their inadequate marketing skill in said area. It’s a business.
I agree it is a business. Of course I am an alum of one of the schools that will likely end up in a super conference and has no worry about being squeezed out. So I don’t worry about this much.
It just a big change for the 12. If the money was drying up then something will change. It’s not earth-shattering but folks don’t much care for losing their traditions. I understand the MW is also shifting but come this fall football is football.

Sorry, I didn’t ping ya. It was there and then I was distracted and called away. :^)
No problem, I’ve been reading Volume 2 of Shelby Foote’s Civil War trilogy so I was slightly sidetracked.
Just wondering...if the Razorbacks left the SEC..and of course they won’t....the SEC would have to add another team in order to have a championship game....who would that possibly be?
