President Obama's Oval Office speech Tuesday marked the end of an era -- an era in which at least half the population believed any crisis could be defused by one man's supposed rhetorical genius and personal charisma. The derisive reception of President Obama's Tuesday night speech from the Oval Office on the Gulf of Mexico oil spill makes it clear that Obama's sweet voice no longer suffices, not even for his biggest boosters.

I think they will have to publicly renounce anything to do with him before they can ever hope to field a viable candidate.

Rhetorical genius? Where? When?
Ain’t buying it, never did.
Anyone can read from a teleprompter.

Obama just shows how stupid Americans have become.

Obama is not now and never has been a great speaker. He just mimicked the style of evangelist/revival preachers both black and white, most likely a style he heard in Reverend Wright’s church and elsewhere. I’d bet the people most impressed with Obama were those who’d heard little of the revival style of preaching/speaking he mimics.

The first thing he reminded me of was Elmer Gantry. He just had a stump speech he delivered over and over with little deviation as he read from the teleprompter. He always seemed very contrived and imperious to me, and not at all a good speaker.

“The tainted, oily tide has turned on the inexperienced man whom Americans placed in the Oval Office based on hopes and dreams and little else.”

This writer has been reading too many bodice-rippers. Blech.

As for the lib slow learners just now figuring Obama out, they have one more lesson to go. Obama's smooth talk doesn't work on anyone else around the world either. He is a foreign policy disaster. In fact, Barack Obama is a consistent disaster at everything related to being President of the United States of America. General Vallely is right. Obama and his minions should resign.

An apt analogy, to LOTR wonks, would be when Gandalf broke the "spell" of Grima Wormtongue, and later the "spell" of Saruman's compelling voice. IMHO, no one had ever listened to Zero's words before, particularly the partisan media shills. Thanks Nachum.
