Is it too late to give Texas back to Mexico?

Its not that I have anything against Mexico; love the country; love the people. Its just that I would like to edge the state of Texas over the border and out of America. My issues with the Lone Star State, aside from the fact that it nurtured and launched the career of George Bush, is that the Texas school board has staged an intellectual coup détat, voting in changes to the school curricula based on political and religious bias rather than educational criteria.
In this case, the board is pushing an ultra-conservative, Christian agenda. But no religious or political agenda would be acceptable.
This is a cautionary tale because what happens in Texas doesnt necessarily stay in Texas. Textbook publishers are paying close attention. According to published reports, over the last year, they sent curriculum writers to the contentious Texas school board meetings to see which way the political winds were blowing down there.
Publishers are in the business of selling books; if evolution is a nonstarter and creationism is to be embraced, the publishers will tweak their texts accordingly. Of course, those same books will be purchased by other states, which may not concur with Texans religious theory. But Texas has 4.8 million schoolchildren, and business is business or, as Molly Ivins, the great Texas writer, used to say, Bidness is bidness.
In the past, the influence of conservatives on the Texas Board of Education has been balanced by the liberal influence of California, the largest purchaser of textbooks. However, because of the economic collapse, California has put off purchasing any new books until 2014. So, Texas rules.

I was of the opinion that we might play the appeasment game and give CALIFORNIA to Mexico and in return the Mexicans would need to leave Texas.
To: AmericaUnite
Americans have no intention of giving Texas back to Mexico. You however Ms Kreiss, can leave for and stay in this Mexico you so love anytime you want.

California has put off purchasing any new books until 2014. So, Texas rules. Works for me.
Note to Randi Kreiss -- Listen, b!tch, your precious California will be ceded to Mexico LONG before Texas.

Yes, but we will give them back California, the millions of their citizens that are here illegally and a big pile of debt for medical and law enforcement services rendered. And will throw in a second round draft pick to be named later.

This probably needs a "Barf Alert".
First of all she is posting this to a a Long Island paper. What do the libtards in NYC Burbs know about Texas?
Secondly, Texas was an independent nation and so we CAN'T give it back to Mexico, but we can give restore its Independence
;) (I bet that will make their bleeding heart eyeballs bleed in Nassau Co as well as bring joy to the Patriots in the Lone Star State!)
Third, I bet if NY paid their bills and lived within their means I'm sure they could ignore what happens in Texas and buy their own (and definitely liberally slanted of course) text books

But no religious or political agenda would be acceptable. LOL! Only a complete dolt would not see the current left-ward tilt in school textbooks. And since Kreiss is a huge LGBT supporter it's not hard to see way she's against teaching history in text books.

Now that there isnt an industrial advantage with the North, right-thinking states should finally put the actuality of secession to the test and not rely on some half-assed SC or ancient former Presidential decision to decide for us. It will not get any better as it is going.Agree.....

Why do you suppose Texas is OK while California is on it's death bed, Dear?

Like your reply.
Texas belongs to Texas, you are right. History proves the claim.
I’d think that Texas could leave the Union, makes more sense than becoming five states.
Mexico might not like us back. We kicked their collective butts before and will do it again. I for one am tired of the idiotic Banditios and others shooting across the boarder for one thing. Texas might extend all the way to Central America. My though to Mexico is: Don’t press your luck!
This article was full of leftist balderdash. Although I’m not always happy with the Texas Education Agency and definitely Governor Goodhair ... they are our ‘problems’ as Texas citizen to work out. Not some two-bit tin horn carpetbagger of leftists wanna-be.

texgal, from what I've seen other states do exactly that. They let someone else decide (from the past CA, or some very liberal state back east) and then they all decide to buy the textbooks to get some sort of discount.
That has always bothered me, because growing up in IL I knew what they were teaching wasn't really reflecting my values. But hey, I was a kid, so went along and studied and passed the tests.
I think this is a great development as far as teaching what the majority of us want our kids to learn. Values, some religious background behind the founders, etc. You Texans can make a difference in the future!

IIRC, the first time Texas revolted it was over a central government's discarding of the (mexican) constitution.
The second time, it was about conflicting interpretations of the (US) constitution.
So not much seems to have changed.
